You can just make a SAW (Light Support)for the Recon team, and the M240 (Medium Support)for the Normal (10man) team.  :-\

hmmmm - the term recon seems to be going a miss somewhere.

quote from english dictionary:

Reconnaissance - n. Militray, naval etc. Examination of region by detachment to locate enemy or asertain strategic features without the knowledge of the enemy.

so - hiding in bushes and running around trying to keep a low profiel with a SAW strapped to you back isnt gonna be the easiest job - plus its hard to stealth kill with a machine gun.

well.......members of the froce recon often have to clear out bulidings........and stuff like that, so itll be easyer for em to carry a SAW than a M240, cause m240 is much bigger/havier/slower rate of fire

Config lines for NV goggles:

class NVGoggles: Binocular
{
   displayName="$STR_DN_NV_GOGGLES";
   showEmpty=0;
   opticsZoomMin=1.000000;
   opticsZoomMax=1.000000;
   modelOptics="optika_night";
};

while they are specialists in "deep" and "mobile" recon its not like its Force Recon's only task, they have a number of missions including search and destroy,  "direct action" raids and CQB/MOUT operations

for at least a couple of those operations they are going to need some more firepower than is provided by the m4 alone.

you could make the AAV carry 25 men by editing the .cpp.

and frandsen, instead of re-releasing the AAV7 why not try to make an AAAV? that would be a nice upgrade to go with the nice new units. :D

What's with the eyes rolling, Flt Sgt?

He's right...the SAW is easily handled by one guy, whereas the M240 is (technically) a crew-served weapon.  I've heard stories of guys who took their SAWs inside buildings and were able to use it with just as much effectiveness as an M4, only with 3x as much ammo  ;D

The SAW is a smaller, less powerful weapon, really.  Believe it or not it was adopted to give the US forces something more like an AK74 (man-portable, reliable full auto weapon)...not neccesarily replace the M60.

Not really, no.  For a while the US Army used both.  Many units still used the '60 because it was more powerful and "trustworthy." - they were used to it.

Run along and make me that mission, Mezzy :thumbsup:

I'm not sure is anyone has mentioned this, but the 10-man squad olive drab backpacks look bit weird. Maybe it would be possible to replace the photo with a texture? I might try that, but I *cannot* get TexView to work, and there does not seems to be another prog to convert .paa and .pac to targa.

Perhaps you could also use Maj. Fubar's M9, the 92F is a loooser weapon.

The Marines are my all-time favorite addon.

Isn't OD colored backpacks standard issue in the US military?

I talked to SelectThis about the NV, he said you could only hold it like a weapon.

Strange, I thought you can just use BIS' config lines for NVs and only add the model line to it ( model="modelname"; ). ???

I know they are for Sure in the Army, and Probly the Marine Corps but I don't know the Marines are Weird they use some of the Best Personal Gear (Backpacks, Tents, Sleeping Bags, Etc.) but they Used M60 tanks for years after the Army Retired them and Switched to the M1A1, as well as other Old Gear.
