UK Challenger MBT Beta
« on: 01 Jan 2003, 17:51:16 »
Hi all,
If you've didn't already know, the OPGWC MOD has released their Challenger MBT for testing so youcan get it here. Also I already know that it has way too weak armor and the gun isnt that strong (Try using the HESH Shell).

So here it is:

For Version 1.75 and above(1.85 to 1.91) (3 206 kb)
http://www.roughnecks.org/opgwc/addons/ds_chalv1.75.zip

For Version 1.30 and above (1.30 to 1.46) (3 206 kb)
http://www.roughnecks.org/opgwc/addons/ds_chalv1.46.zip

well, i played the 1.46 version (cos i dl it before i got resistance) and i would have to say this is pretty good. The only problem i can see on the tank is on the LOD i see (possibly 2-3) that on the raised surfaces near the back, it stretches the texture to lines, which isnt the most pleasing sight.

If you could fix that then, this would be a superb addon  :joystick:

that's a pretty nice challenger, so far I've used it in one mission *which is soon to go into beta testing here* and hope to use it in more (I'll be making historical battles from the Gulf war, one including a large number of challengers), good luck fixing the tank, it's really nicely done with the modelling and the texturing aint half bad either  ;D

I think the textures and model is great, but the sounds of the gun aint great at all. I think the armour is alright (It took 4 shots from MAF's Iraqi t-72 to knock it out) but the gun seems a little weak too. I havent expermented between ranges

Overall its good, just needs little finishing touches.

BTW a woodland Challenger 1 is available on opflashpoint.org

I think the Scorpian was phased out before Gulf War One.
A Scimitar would be nice.
The Warrior looks good.
The Challenger one looks very rounded.
Why are you making a Cent? You may aswell make a Chieftain.

These will not be released for a long long time so I expect by the time they are they will be fantastic or possably be able to use OFP2.

HI, dont take this the wrong way but the Warroir you have modeled it totally wrong. From other pics I have seen that you have made the command version F511 but I believe you mean to make the 510 IFV version. The command version has a dummy 30mm gun anyway so it wouldnt be much fun in OFP.

Now the IFV doesnt have the twin split door at the rear, it has a single door,

It has two radio antennae, not three.

the right hand side add on armour is square at the front, not slpoed forward at the top.

behind the turret it looks like you have made engine grills, they are in fact large hatches.

the front  has a engine grill below the 3 handles you have made(should be four) which is flat with the sloping hull.

Infront of this is a armoured cover which is sort of curved.

On the turret the sights "shutters" are wrong.

the front mudgaurds are the wrong shape as well as the addon armour which looks too small.

I think thats all for now, but dont take this personally, I just happen to have benn in alot of warriors and have a few books on them, als oive made a few models of them. But I think its great that people like you are bringing british vehicles into the game ;)

lol.......ive been wanting to change the periscopes for some time............. i relised that the door thingy was an issue myself and will have a word with my texturer...... i myself put 2 radio antenia but the texturer put another one on lol........ apart from that i cant blame any thing else on the texturer
