getting choppers to land....
« on: 10 Jul 2007, 03:23:55 »
Hi all,

Yep - was trying to sort out some stuff relating to insertions ect.
Currently get a chopper to land this way ~

AIR2 flyinheight 2

because when I use

AIR2 land "GET IN"

the damned ai drops the bird from about 30 m height and wrecks it so he cant take off again.

Also when using the first flyinheight, he overshoots the dropzone depending on his speed and distance from spwn to lz.

Anyone any ideas ?

Cheers,

SSD

Best thing i ever did was create an invisible landing pad so the ai knew where to go. This works particularly well when sending ai random areas by using the onmapsingleclick command, as the ai gets within range of the landing pad and chooses to land on that pad by default rather than anywhere else in the area, this usually makes for a smooth landing since they have a predefined landing area, also you may want to set the choppers behavior to safe as this rules out alot of combat behaviour.
