Thompson Submachine Gun
« on: 03 Feb 2005, 20:35:09 »
Hey all!  I've been playing OFP for quite a long time, and it is the best!  I'm getting pretty good at scripting, but I don't know if I'm ready to make my own weapons yet.  So, can anyone out there find or make a Thompson submachine gun?  AKA Tommy gun.  It is the gun gangsters used in the 1930's.  .45 caliber.  That would be fabulous thanks!!!

Just about every WW2 pack has one in. If your looking for a gangster 'tommy gun' (with the barrel mag), I havn't seen one anywhere, but i'll keep a look out for you.  ;)

I made one (very quickly) it does have a drum mag but it needs a lot of work done.

Since the subject has been broached...  The idea is to make a 30's gangster type mod.  You're one of the Untouchables going up against Al Capone.  Something along those lines.  There is the idea, someone want to run with it???

I told you it was Quickly made (if you hadn't noticed it has a drum mag and a second handle). :-[

A new animation that would allow firing the Thompson from the hip might be great.  Have you ever held a Thompson before?  They're extremely heavy to wield

I know. And they hurt like hell if you fire them from the shoulder for too long  :-[

New anim woudld be possible, but not usable. Don't ask unless you want a really complicated answer. Anways, I am reworking JJR's vietnam pack including the weapons, and I added some new features to the Thompson SMG, I suppose it could be modified to have a different fore grip and drum mag.

JJR's pack:

The Thompson's 100 round drum magazine was never used in World War II because it is noisy, heavy and cumbersome.  I am not sure as to the capacity in which the Thompson was used in Vietnam, however.  I saw a knockoff Thompson that had been homemade by VietCong in the museum at West Point.  It used the standard magazine for the weapon.  It was impressive, but very rough looking.  I wonder how well it worked.   :)
