When I set waypoints for my cars they go off the road even when i set them careless or safe.. I think my data file is dammaged! Luckily I was able to fix it with 1 mission, but the others are going to be a disaster!

Not a lot as far as I can see, unless it is some undocumented feature.  It is not April so I am puzzled.  Come on Blip - explain.

preferRoads is config cpp value (operator or what the hell they are actually called...)
Won't do anything in scripts/inits/triggers etc...
If you put that into a init field, it just makes a global variable preferroads and sets it true...
(afaik)


Instead of that, try setting the car's skill all the way up...
That might not help much though because OFP AI is so crappy that they just don't know how to drive...
Randomly they actually can do that, but it seems to be quite a rare luxury ::)...

I've noticed that if there is a tree or something similar on the side of the road, cars will try to go around the tree when they could go right past it...
another ai bug  >:(

There are three things I know of that will help AI saying on road.
1. driver setbehaviour "careless"; driver setcombatmode "blue"
2. driver setskill 1
3. insert the waypoint directly on top of the road.

The problem with the AI driving behaviour is that they try to avoid crashing into everything too[/] much. Another issue is that the AI tries to get to it's waypoint via the shortest and safest route.

There should really be a 'unit disableai "don't think, just drive" command :P

I asked this same question in some other forum a ways back and that was the answer I got.  Now, since then I have never had a problem with cars, tanks, or whatever staying on the road.  However, since it apparently isn't common knowledge, I am starting to get the feeling that the guy was just yanking my chain and fed me a line of BS.   :-[

So I played with it in the editor and actually ended up seeing no difference in having it and not having it.  My advice is to listen to these other guys and take there advice.  I will look into whether or not that preferroads thing is real or not.  Probably not, and so I now look like a fool.  :tomato:

ehhe that helped... And also when I played rocks down the roads, from the editor addons, they just stop in front of those rocks while they are split up and theres a big enough gap for 2 cars to fit trough the 2 rocks (ambush place)
