.3DS missing KFDATA section (?!)
« on: 02 Sep 2003, 07:54:08 »
I'm trying to import a .3ds file I have just made into O2....

I get an error;

Missing KFDATA section

How do I fix this? I made the model so I should be able to fix it if I just knew what it waslooking for..

KFDATA appears to be Keyframe data..

Lovely.. Still no clue how or why its not present..

Okay.. Fixed this issue..

This problem is caused by a very poorly written import utility on the part of BIS requring the KFDATA block that is typically optional.

i got the same error
when i tried to load up some of my models in O-2
i make them in a tool called metaseq

and someone told me
i had to use a tool called anim8or to add a dummy KF-Data

yes your right Key Frame Data
with 3dsmax you can animate your models
and de animation is saved in the 3ds file a KF-Data
so i did and from that time i can load them up in O-2

i believe its freeware but i'm not sure
if you need help to find it you can contact me on

I've taken to using Deep Exploration..  I make all my models in Lightwave, UV texture them in lightwave.. and then export them to 3DS using DE..

Works great!
