i know how to use the "this setunitpos "UP" thing to get someone to stay standing, is there a way to either:

make a person (ai) only be able to use the Stand and Crouch position thingies OR

only be able to be crouched???

I was going to create a topic on this  ::). It really would be good, particularly for use with fortifications, since these are designed to be crouched behind. Just think how hard it would be to attack a hill top sandbag fortification when all you can see is their heads sticking out. Without sniper or long range explosive support it would be nigh impossible. Instead, the AIs just hide behind them on the dirt, and don't defend their position until their enemies have already taken it. Damn loons  >:(! Unfortunately I don't think there's a way to get them to crouch. Even in-game they won't crouch when you do. Sorry if you thought this was an answer  ;).

Ah but do they stay crouched? Maybe a switchmove? Would this enable them to shoot though? Hmm.

Can you put something in the init to just stop them going prone? Then you would have standing and kneeling and kneeling in combat mode?

well
this setunitpos "UP" makes it so that the units stand up only

this setunitpos "DOWN" makes it so they can lie down only

this setunitpos "AUTO" doesnt really do anything

but i want it to be able to use UP and crouch also

I think it makes the AI decide what is the best position for the unit to be in.

Maby this works

init:

unitname setBehaviour "combat";unitname setUnitPos "up";unitname switchMove "combattocrouch"

this will have the soldier to kneeling.

But some times he starts to stand up for no reason.
Tired of kneeling I gues.
Is there a question about monkeys? okay I gues not!

ive kinda figured a work around,
this setunitpos "UP" and have the man behind a sandbg wall or two, its ok cover but not too good cover

I copy that out of one of the unofficial com refs and use it in my missions all the time and it always works.  Dunno if this will help but hope it will
