« on: 27 Jun 2003, 03:19:49 »
Hi everyone...

i would just like to thank the ofpec staff for making such a great site for ofp editing. You guys are doing such a great job upkepping everything cos theres a lot on this site right?? Since i found this site i have never gone to any other ofp editing sites!!

**SUGGESTON
With a note to the forum chaos, i think that things do get a little of topic, but i guess things are locked  a little to quickly. Mabey the Moderator should simply delete/edit any off-topic posts??
**SUGGESTION

Thanks again!!

Rancor.

Hey Rancor,

Thanks for the praise, good that you like it here. :)

As for your suggestions, yoes we do lock off topic threads rather quickly. The reason is that we don't want to lose the focus. If we would do everything and anything regarding OFP, we wouldn't be as good as we are at what we're doing. You wouldn't be as satisfied as you obviously are at the moment.

We don't delete off topc posts because we think that locking is a less severe action and it also gives other users an idea of what is on topic and what isn't. We do, however delete illegal, highly abusive, pornographic and other similar posts.

We're careful with editing posts because that could make other members believe that someone has said something himself what was said by a moderator when he modified his posts. So we don't alter posts by general principle, except to remove illigal or other unacceptable content. And we always clearly mark the parts that were edited by us.

I hope that clears up our policy a little bit. ;)

Hey Tomb,

Thanks for the beer, good that you like it here in Houston. :)

As for your off topic threads, The reason that we don't want to do anything regarding OFP,
is that we wouldn't be as drunk as we are.  :)

We do, however delete highly abusive posts.  :o ;D

I think not having an off topic board is a good idea. Thats NOT having one. Flamewars would be going on for ever.

But, you always argue that the moderating would be insane, and Im sorry, but I jus have to make a point here, its off topic, so there is no moderating. Right?

I think even an off-topic board does need moderating conserning abusive threads, rasist remarks and all the other stuff mentioned in the forum rules  ;)

Yep, even more so than normal boards. :)

And here,
its purely them moddy's hard-butt-medal-worthy-effort which has turned me into a somewhat normal repper.  :-*

Thanx to them, I've experienced stuff like posting a reply that were gratefully recieved
without any *what does he mean* or similar (usual) stuff following my tail. ::) ;D

=============

oh, and to stay ON topic I'd better add that in response to this:
