Summary

You are the leader of an 8-man fighting patrol. Your task is simple: patrol through an enemy held island and eliminate the targets.

Overview

The overview is only missing the picture. Otherwise, I would have scored it a ten. It was written well, and gave me an excellent idea of the task (ooh, bad pun) ahead of me.

Briefing

The briefing didn't disappoint either, and it took me a good 5 minutes to go through all the mission details, which are laid out in a very realistic fashion, and contain force strength, and information about another Black Op squad in a different part of the island.

Mission

The mission itself is almost flawless, with the only detractors being the editor driven cutscenes. But more on those later. As you start the mission, you find yourself immediately thrown into the action against a squad of Soviet troops, which you easily dispatch. You then begin humping it across miles of Kolgujev, dodging and ambushing patrols, avoiding air patrols, and observing enemy movements on the way to the objectives.

The objectives are well located, and even more well guarded. I was able to go Rambo style with the M-21, so I've got to dock a point for that (But that's just me, and you may prefer this style of play).

The final objective, a helicopter extraction, went well, even if the camera work was a little dodgy. It was clearly done with the editor, and the camera shakes wildly around while the Black Op it's trying to focus on runs around the extraction chopper. After taking off, you are flown speedily north to the open sea, where another editor driven cutscene (Albeit a much smoother one) of the chopper greets you before the end of the mission.

Overall

(Review version 1.1 - Date: Dec 2001) This mission is LONG. It took me an hour and 45 minutes to beat it, and there's only a few dull spots.

This mission requires an Editor Upgrade (originally Gunslinger's, presumably) for a small number of objects to appear.
Without it, the error is "No Entry 'config.bin/CfgVehicles.AAA808"
Even with the Editor Update and BlackOpMedics, because the latter was created before Resistance, you will have the error "Missing addon: blackopmedic". However, the mission still runs as intended - this is unavoidable, without editing the mission.sqm
