Overview
A picture that appears self-made and about as much mission detail you can fit on the overview page.
Intro
Scripted and reasonably well made the Intro and Outro set the scene for the mission and any sequels.
Briefing
For an author whose first language isn’t English the briefing was packed full of meaty goodness. Be careful not to choke on it. Too much detail can sometimes cloud one's mind.
*Ok, who let Budda in here.*
Once you’ve read all the information, remember it’s just a simple mission… or is it?
Mission
Most of the mission is spent piloting a Hind gunship. But first you have to steal it. That’s the only difficult part. Don’t let it get you down, this objective is very do-able. Think about your approach. Don’t just run in guns blazing.
Once you have the Hind, finding your targets can be a pain due to the vehicles not being in combat mode. This means they appear as white squares instead of red. Hmmm… is that a house or a T80 I see before me?
Other than some small glitches the mission flows well. A save game option is available via radio so automatically updated retry positions don’t exist. Save when you’re in a safe place or an angry camper you will be.
The drop off zone for Charlie squad is rather unrealistic considering you have intel of a Shilka being at Saint Pierre. If you cruise along and let Charlie eject at the waypoint, the Shilka will insert air-conditioning ducts in your Hind.
After clearing the area of armour, I called Charlie squad into the village, but never saw them or heard from them again. They didn’t get shot in Saint Pierre because I was hovering overhead shooting anything that moved. Anything Russian that is. ;)
I ended up landing and searching for the last man standing to complete the mission.
This is often complained about by reviewers, but if your job was to clear an area and you left even one man undetected you could have killed several of your countrymen in doing so. It’s called realism.
Overall
(Review Date: May 2002) Although this mission isn’t anything ground breaking its well worth the download. Play it and enjoy it.
Edit by Walter_E_Kurtz -
This mission requires an Editor Upgrade (originally Gunslinger's for OFP CWC v1.46) for a small number of objects to appear. (This does not affect either the Intro or the Outro).
You will receive the error message "Missing addon: EditorUpdate102", but the mission runs as intended - this is unavoidable, without editing the mission.sqm
