Review by TygerOverviewThe overview had some text, but the picture was faulty and did not load. BriefingThe Briefing gave some general information on the background of the mission and why I was there, but there was hardly any information on who I would be facing, and what I should expect. Also, there was no weapons selection, which I would have liked. MissionMy objectives are to eliminate three Shilkas, then make it to the extraction zone. Seems simple, is simple. The first objective was quite easy, guarded by two two-man patrols and four men at a campfire. After setting off a charge under the Shilka, the men at the campfire don’t move. They just lay on the ground. I kill them where they lie. The other two Shilkas are close to each other in the town of Morton. I move in close and find two squads patrolling nearly the same route. After I dispatch the second Shilka, the two squads seem to disappear from the town, which I sweep in a matter of seconds. I then move outside of the town to find the rest of the Russians, and kill them. Finally, I destroy the last Shilka, and run the rest of the way to the extraction zone expecting reinforcements to arrive at any time, or for a few Russians to be waiting for me at the extraction zone. I made it without either. Overall(Review Date: Feb 2005) The mission, while complete, was lacking some stuff that would have improved it. The mission was lacking patrols that encompassed the whole area, and the soldiers at the objectives did not react, even when I touched off a pipe bomb under their feet. The author did include some radio (no voice) when the objectives were completed, but they did not show up as completed in the mission briefing. Also, there was only one patrol between the first and second objectives even though I covered quite a ways. Overall, this mission was a standard run-of-the-mill mission, but it has room for some improvement. Edit by Walter_E_Kurtz - |
