Review by Shark AttackOverviewContains a good picture taken from the mission which is well presented. The text, however is limited and not very informative also the version of the mission is listed in the overview as beta? IntroStarts well with a night vision satellite style view of the area of operations before switching to a video briefing showing the player, the mission objectives and the team insertion point. The camera work is hit and miss, some good positioning is sadly eclipsed by some not so good movement. A lot of actual camera movement between the objectives had me a little dizzy. BriefingThe text along side working markers to objectives explains clearly what has to be done in order to complete the mission. However, it is missing a little polish, the odd double space and a missing word or two would have made it more complete. Extra information is also available via links on the plan page some of it is useful e.g. the mugshot of the enemy officer, others not so useful i.e a picture of youre team and also a picture of your reinforcements. The notes sets a little background to the mission which is a nice touch . My team mates are all elite fighting men and there is a fine weapon selection available for a mission of this type. MissionNothing original here I'm afraid. This is another SF assault mission with the usual objectives, Shilkas, Artillery pieces and a healthy dose of enemy infantry, however this is no Sunday stroll along the beach. The mission is action packed and with well defended objectives proves to be challenging, fiendishly so in veteran mode. The mission contains no show stoppers as such but is far from polished. Several units remain in careless mode throughout the mission and the chopper delivering some much needed back up, at times shows a great reluctance to land, occasionally not even attempting to. The author has also used the Urban Patrol Script to add some randomness to the mission however, poor use of patrol markers mean that units 200 meters away from an exploding Shilka fail to react and continue to patrol their route with a nonchalant attitude. Outro(s)Always nice to see an outro on completing a mission. This one shows the arrival of the main invasion force complete with air support. A good effort to show what happens next. SpecialEven though one of the files is a poor recording, the voice acting is worth a mention, a good attempt by the author to add to the atmosphere of the mission. OverallA good attempt at creating an all action Spec Op mission. However, the mission is lacking a lot of attention to detail and polish. Little touches such as AI patrol routes, the arrival of reinforcements, and hiding player actions until needed would have added to the mission greatly. |
