Tip of the Week Compilation
« on: 06 Feb 2009, 07:17:08 »
Hi guys,

Love the new look, and in particular the Tip of the week feature.

Is there any chance of compiling the past entries so they can be browsed? Those little tidbits are life savers sometimes, and I have the feeling there is something that I've missed.

Please excuse me if I have overlooked where they are if you are doing so already.

The intention was to add each entry to the faq. But the faq will likely take some time to fix up yet. So in short there are past entries. I guess you will have to come to OFPEC each week to find the next one.   :whistle:

Ooh! It looks like you have us all hooked then.  :D

I look forward to seeing those that have been missed in the faq later.

First up thanks for providing the "Tip of the week"  archive although it is a little sparse right now.

I have a tip to share for Tip #1.

Instead of using a new var to display percentiles, it is possible to escape the character so it is not interpreted. Simply use % as an escape character, so the code will become.

Code: [Select]
format["You have %1%% ammo remaining", _mypercentage];
ps sorry for digging up an old thread, but this resource is overlooked imho. Keep up the good work.

pps. That tip is no good please ignore. That does work elsewhere but not inside a format command it seems. Please forgive me.

i think you missed "hint" in front of "format" seperated by a space
Very busy with life, business, and other stuff. Away from OFP for months. Not sure if I could get back onto it. :(

The format command can be used in many ways, for example titletext, cuttext, call, etc. It doesn't always need to go with 'hint'.  :good:
