Upload troubles
« on: 06 Sep 2004, 23:18:31 »
The most common reasons for an upload to have errors is that you haven't read the submission rules or that you're using a slow internet connection and the upload gets timed out. For slow connections or large files use the FTP upload rather than the HTTP upload.

What do you do when your upload has for some reason gone bad?
  • Check in your browser/firewall/internet filter, that you're allowing cookies
  • Read through the submission rules again
  • If you're on slow connection try the FTP upload
  • Determine the reason and try again
  • Change the name of the file you're uploading - the earlier file name might still exist on the server and dublicates are not allowed.
  • Modify the earlier submission information by writing in the Summary text field that the submission failed and the entry can be deleted. Then change the mission name to "bad upload. please delete."

The reviewers and I tend to become very grumpy if we find failed uploads that aren't marked as faulty in any way.
Not all is lost.
