Updated Original Campaigns
« on: 24 Aug 2002, 21:23:59 »
Has anyone updated the original campaigns to take advantage of the new weapons? (Pistols' UZI, etc) I hope so! adding the UZi the specops missions would be very cool, and also has anyone redone the campaigns so that you can pick your own weapon from the very beginning?

I was just using the UZI as an example. I'm more concerned with the Pistols, as there are several missions where I can see those coming in pretty handy.

Except pistols are only good if you can hit someone in the head with it. It takes quite a few shots on any unit except for maybe a civilian to kill the unit.

No, SF guys never use Uzis. Honest. Never. Never have used one. :gunman:

OK, we did once, but it was in a "sensative non-combat enviroment"

You are totaly correct. The SF's never use Uzi's because quite frankly HK's are better...  ;D

Is it legal to modify the bis campaings? Even though it's an open source code game, I would assume that bis has made somekind of a copyright or something on their campaings?  ???

I don't think they care so long as you don't sell it or take the credit for all the work, but who would download 70mb's just to play with a different weapon?

lol ok, you have to go here and get pbo decrypter or something, then you just got de'pbo the orginal campaign and copy all its missions into your user/mission directory so you can edit them, then when you've changed them put the back into the original campaigns folder, thats it.

What would be the point, by adding extra weapons in you'd end up making the campaign too easy. BIS designed the missions to be challenging and chose the available weapons appropriately.

What I'd like to see are new, OFP:R quality versions of Malden and Everon. The Kolgujev missions could be set on Nogojev, a new, hi-res version of Kolgujev made by (of course) Kegetys.

Btw MHSJROTC, do you go to Millikan HS in Long Beach, CA?
