Summary

You are the leader of a 2 man sniper team whose mission is to bring down the radio tower and rescue the chief engineer. Set on the sparse, beautiful island of Afghanistan, Radio Tower, as the name suggests, is based on the destruction of a Radio Tower. You have to get there, and you have to get out.

Review by Rhysduk

Overview

A very pleasent little overview. Consisting of the regular sized, bordered, picture, and a fine piece of text, that is too the point and not over indulged, this Overview is text book.

Intro

The intro starts off well, setting the right mood and atmosphere with some music. The author makes use of his knowledge of camera scripting to good effect, with some adequate camera angles. What the intro did lack, was any protrayal of the civilians being over thrown by enemy forces. Overall, a well made intro.

Briefing

The briefing is extensive. It contains much information on the sitatuation, most of which will aid you in the mission ahead. The author has used pictures to help reinforce this information, whilst not overdoing it with images. A tidy little weapon selection. The author has very kindly given detailed information about each weapon available to the player. Top marks for this! Text book stuff here!

Mission

The mission started off with you and your teammate parachuting in. The choice of LZ's is by far not the best LZ's I've come across. This illustrates the fact that the first objective doesnt neccessarily need completing before the others. Despite this, I choose to follow the plan. After a run of about 50 miles and what seems like a lifetime, I can see the Radio Tower insight. I've nearly suffered Atrial flutter after that outrageous run! Having scoped up and surveyed the area, the situation becomes apparent. Kill! Plugging away at the enemy isn't too difficult, as long as you can keep the crosshairs on them (See Note Below). More difficulty from the enemy's part would have been a welcome improvement to this, although there was an adequate number of troops to keep me occupied for a minute or two. Trying to scout for the radio's was tedious. If you didn't pay attention in the Intro, you might be hunting for a while. Destroy the radio tower, and the few accompanying radio's and let's be on our way! Oh wait, a URAL is headed this way! No problem, pick up a Strela Launcher and problem solved. "Save Game" Seeing as there is a jeep to carry my teammate and I, it saves us the 50mile hike to the next objective! With buildings coming into sight, we head for the hills over looking the town. Ordering my teammate to lay low, and hold fire, this was going to be a turkey shoot! Ordering my fellow squad member to pick off said targets was childs play. The town was soon clear (apparently), so we head down to check it out and see if the hostage is still alive. "You are Dead". Ahhh crap. Didnt see that bozo hiding. "Retry" This time I made sure to take that guy out! Ah, a civ. The hostage joins your team and is ordered to follow me. On heading to the LZ, I see something out of the corner of my eye. Ah, an ambush. The ambush by the enemy squad wasn't too tasking, again, a little more difficulty here would have been nice. I managed to keep the hostage alive! Reached the LZ with no problem, hostage alive, teammate a bit injured but will live to fight another day!

Special

1 Radio Savegame.

Overall

Firstly, a note on the weapon selection. If you choose to ignore the Weapon Selection Available to you, be warned, you have a frustrating 20-30 minutes ahead of you. The recoil on the M82A1 is absurd! Overall, a sufficient mission to be undertaken. The author could have done with a little bit more Beta Testing but has made good use of what he recieved and his knowledge of OFP Mission Making. I'll be looking out for missions by this author.
