Review by The-ArchitectOverviewStandard overview here, nice pic. Ok. IntroThis is how an intro should look. Excellent camera work, good scripting and voice acting. I can't fault this really. From the cruise missile to the waiting blackhawks. Great work. BriefingPlenty of info to get stuck into. A massive weapon selection and a nice little explanation of how to use the features which make this mission quite stunning to play. Perhaps this information would have been better off in the readme but this way I had the opportunity to take a quick glance when I needed to. MissionAfter the stunning Intro I expected a real humdinger of a mission. Unfortunately, it really wasn't that great. Technically it was flawless but one or two little things niggled me. The sounds JAM or BAS used for the militia sniper's weapon didn't give me any clue as to where the bad guys were firing from and the amount of snipers compared to regulars was a little unbalanced. Also I found that I didn't need three squads to complete the mission. To be honest, I probably could have done it single handed. Roving vehicles and a few more baddies would have made this much more of a challenge. That takes nothing away from the enjoyment I got from playing the mission though. I actually felt an atmosphere whilst playing it, something which I haven't encountered in a user mission for a long time. SpecialA well presented group control console and a pretty cool spy satellite made this mission stand out even more. The controls for the satellite could have been better thought out but that was a very small thing. Overall(Review Date: Jul 2005) This is the best mission I have played in a very long time. It shows that there are still talented mission-makers around who are willing to put the work in to make a solid, playable and well rounded mission. I gather the author has been around for a while and with work like this I hope he stays even longer. Maybe some of you will be deterred by all the addons needed but I urge you to just download them. This author deserves that people play his mission. It certainly is worth it. |
