Summary

Conduct a night ambush on a heavily armoured tank colum with your fellow SF operators.

Overview

None. Cooperative mission.

Intro

None. No problem as this is a quick multiplayer mission. Any intro in this mission should've run for less than 10 seconds due to the simple setup.

Briefing

There is a brief description of the situation with the enemy convoy arriving at the kill zone in as little as three minutes. Troop emplacement is described to give everyone an idea of their task.

The map is a bit crowded and could have done with fewer markers to make it look like a more professional army briefing. As with most MP missions, the notes section is a bit redundant and looks just that way. Weapon selection isn't present, it would have been a welcome addition, especially for realistic clans it is often better to have a selection present.

Mission

Playing this mission with over half a dozen was a lot of fun, not entirely due to the mission but partly because of the play some of us chose. The mission is set up near a cliff, half the force start on the mountain, the other half on the other side of the road. Expect multiple casualties in the first three minutes, the cliff sure is steep.. In a mission with a realistic context, this starting location would be a downside, due to the probability of casualties in order to get to a better ambush position. While most hills look perfect for an ambush, they mostly aren't due to the maximum exposure when laying on the slope of the hill.

Most of the action takes place in a flash, with AT rockets and bullets flying everywhere. Expect a playtime of five full minutes, no more - probably less. Those five minutes are fun, surely when taking into account the 'cliff jumpers', but feel as if too short. This and the lack of frills in this mission, no voices, reinforcements, or anything to spice the mission up make it solely enjoyable if played in cooperative with a decent amount of human players.

Luckily, there were no bugs. However, there is plenty of space for minor improvements. More infantry to accompany the armoured column would be appreciated by me, also, a vehicle for our use like a Humvee with TOW launcher could add another dimension to this mission. That, coupled with a few more minutes of preparation time to place satchels, mines and seek a good hiding spot would add much for those looking for a more realistic mission. It would even make the mission more enjoyable for souls only seeking action and fun.

Special

It is dark, everyone feels uncertain about their position and the enemy convoy will soon be in range. The mayhem and chaos make this mission somewhat enjoyable.

Overall

A mission enjoyable one or two times, it provides a lot of fun, especially if played with a lot of teammates. With a few extras, like a weapon selection, the mission could have been improved with only a handful of work.

Play this with your clan, or on a decent public server. With the sole purpose to have a simple, short but enjoyable shootout.
