Police MP mission
« on: 27 Oct 2005, 19:37:59 »
There was a topic on this forum a while ago about a police mp mission that someone had made (i can't quite remember the name of the person) and i an idea abou how it could be sort of revamped. It would require the FDF mod and all that is requied by it by the way. The best setting i can think of at the moment would be the town hall in Lipany though it could be put else where. There would be several Finish police cars with armed police behind them ( pistols or mp5s). The people storming the building would be players and they would be MPs/Finish Police with mp5s. That squad would be made of 5 players ( less would work but five would be best) and a sniper team consiting of 1 or 2 people armed with tac-9s. The east side would be players and they would be rebel gun men, the hostage(s) could be players ( it would be one or more damaged vips or just civs). I'm open to constructive critisism and i would like to know whos idea it was origanaly. Sorry i put it in the wrong place i have a mind like a open sive.

Well, it wasn't my idea... but I like it. I made a mission like that, using FDF 1.3 and the townhall in Lipany one year ago. I tested it with my LAN-group a couple of times, but never finished it.

I have one suggestion, that is quite easy to do with very little scripting. Let the hostages be AI (it's quite boring to play a hostage anyway).  Then the survival of the hostages can be the objective for both Resistance and East side.

Resistance objective is complete if the hostages are escorted to resistance safe zone. Consequently, East objective is failed at the same time.

East objective is done when the hostages are transported across the border, or where ever you think they should go to reach east safe zone. Then Resistance objective is failed.

This makes arather interesting conflict, because both sides must make sure that the AI are kept alive (and that is quite difficult when they run around in circles all the time, refuse to enter cars, get's lost, etc).

If the hostages are killed, both sides lose.

I like the idea too, although I would change one thing:
Quote
If the hostages are killed, both sides lose.
I wouldn't fail the criminals if the hostages die, the disadvantage of not having the hostages would be enough for most players to want to keep them alive.  Maybe you could reduce their points if the hostages die, but I wouldn't fail them.

My two cents ;)

Problem: If East kills the hostages Resistance loses. That's why I suggested both sides should play on the same terms.

Perhaps the east have to not only get out of the building, by say shooting thier way though or negosating for transport, but they have to get them to a place with a heli or air plane and get them off the island. Cue police chases and ambushese.
