« on: 10 Sep 2002, 23:49:11 »
At this moment there are 2 projects runnin at Ballistic

that are the spec op choppers and the Marines choppers.

but dont think other projects will slow down by it because thats not happening.

the Marines helicopter pack will have a
-UH1N (unarmed), UH1N (1 M240), UH1N (gunship)
-CH46 (unarmed), CH46 (1 minigun)
-AH1W(4 FFAR pods, aim9), AH1W(2 FFAR pods, 8 hellfires)
-MV22 (unarmed) ! it is not clear if the fly to hover mode will works !

all will be normal grey version but later on there will be a camo edit when all projects are done.  :)

forgot a screenshot  :o

i read that there might be/might not be a VTOL capability to the V-22 what is the status and how is it (hopefully) being achieved?

To be honest...I think the only way of making a V22 is to make it perform like a helicopter in OFP and give it a higher top speed than normal.

The engine will not support VTOL aircraft models...including the harrier.

At least the V22 will be more believable as a Helo model in game than a Harrier.

Col. Klink has asked Bis to implement this in the nxt pathc i think(VTOL that is).

Some one made a Hairrier, that was Good (I thought it was any way) but the Icon on the Editer Screen was that of a Hello chopper. any way Right On!

Yes, this Harrier realy was a chopper (can't turn the gear in).

But it was realy unrealistic...a harrier don't has to turn his nose done to get speed.

For the Osprey...why try to do an not existing (ok, not used) vehicle?

Tigershark where is the TJP-Website (or what ever you call your team now...ah ballistic it was)? No link in here?
And what's up with  the DAP and MH-47 with air refuel capability?

Can't await the Marines Pack!!! The last Cobra pics looked awesome!

is there a way to turn the nozzles instead of the aircraft itself, i seen were Black Baron was working on a convertible Charger, use that to turn the nozzle and... well i don't know, you all are geinouses, if anyone can figure it out it'll be you.

Two helicopters i would like to see in OFP would have to be the Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion and the CH-53E Super Stallion.

The CH46 was also was i was hoping someone would make.

Those look good, can't wait to mess around with them in game.

I look forward to these. Im compiling an ultimate Marines pack. I got plenty of infantry, tonnes of US Weapons and equipment. BTW I wouldnt release it without all the author's permissions, but I redid the addons for better handling and 1.85 support. Cant wait for the AAV7, FAV, DAV, UH-1N, CH46, AH1W, and CH54 all to be released. I already got an F16, and F14 for air support. Its gonna go in conjuction with my campaign (thats why ive made the pack - better editor support for me).

erm correct me if i'm wrong but i don't think that the marines

well from my limited knowledge - a typical beach assult uses:

The marines aircraf carrier as staging post

Hovercraft for amphibious assult

CH46 / CH55 Super stalion for air transports

Huey for radio communications and battle field orders (works like the OH56)

and the Harrier Jump Jet as support fighters and to take out defences.

thats all from a tv show i saw - had the whole things on - very cool.

The Marine Corps flies both the F/A-18 Hornet and the AV-8B Harrier.  Any amphibious operation of significant size is going to have a Navy carrier battle group backing it, so you would see all the U.S. Navy aircraft involved as well.  Heavy lift choppers are the CH-53E, medium lift are CH-46's and light lift are UH-1N's.  All three of these as well as the Harriers are organic to Wasp class LHD's and Tarawa class LHA's.  These are the small straight-deck helicopter carriers in the Navy's amphibious arsenal.  I don't think there are any operational units in todays day and age, but up until about five years ago, the Marines also flew the OV-10 Bronco extensively for FAC and CAS operations.

Oh and I forgot, the Osprey will soon make its way into the Fleet Marine Force.  Interstingly enough, the U.S. Navy does own and fly a squadron of F-16's.  They are the "N" variant fighters and are flown out of Fallon Nevada I believe.  They won't see any combat though as they play the role of the adversary fighters in the Topgun fighter school.  Also the Navy has converted the F-14 Tomcat to a close air support multi-role fighter.  In its ground attack configuration it is known as the "Bombcat".  It's being used in Afghanistan right now.

Just found a topic over at Operation Flashpoint Fourm:  VOTL script available.

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard301/ikonboard.cgi?s=3daf06fa6106ffff;act=ST;f=7;t=21148

It seems they have been able to get it to work with 1.85 using the new setVelocity-command.  Check it out.

That is a d@mn shame!  Back when I was in the Navy, before they gave NAS Miramar over to the Gyrenes to turn it into a helicopter base, it was known as "Fightertown U.S.A." and was the home of Topgun.  I used to love to watch those F-16 and F-5 adversary birds come screaming in over the highway at about 400 knots and 40 feet off the deck.  Oh well, thank the Clinton administration for that F-Up.

Messiah-yes.
Bone Collector-Its possible

Schoeler....yeah man...now everything from fightertown is at NAS Fallon now aint it?

I never realised you used to be in the Navy.

These days they use a mixture of adversary A4s, F18s and F14s.

In fact...here are some pics of a nice little mid air mishap that happened a while back between 2 Adversary F18s. They were lucky to come out of this alive. But it shows what a survivable airplane the F18 is.

The unit is VFC-12 Omars based at NAS Oceana. The mishap happened on 22apr96 over the Atlantic Ocean off Virginia. The aircraft involved were 162454 ( 'AF 03' - this is the blue one) and 162475 ( 'AF 12'  - the brown one). Both aircraft received such heavy damage  that neither was restored to flying condition. 162454 did receive some repairs, only to appear on display as a gate guard at NAS Oceana  and 162475 ended up on the dump at NAS Oceana. They were in a dogfight with F-14s from VF-41 during an exercise known as SFARP, Strike Fighter Aircombat Readiness Program.

not any new pics, tigershark is finishing up on the littlebirds and MH-60L and then he will be starting on the AH-1W, so expect to see some new shots in the next couple of weeks, the CH-46 is now pretty far in the future as we want to start finishing projects instead of having 10 on the go and none finished :)

LOL! Tigershark, I would have loved to have been in on the post-op briefing after that little "incident".  Its always nice to see hotshot jaygees and lieutenants squirming while standing tall before the old man. Anyway I served for six years as an Aerographers Mate or what the Navy more accurately calls a "weather guesser".  I did a lot of pre-flight weather briefs for A-6, EA-6, F/A-18 and P-3 drivers up at NAS Whidbey Island and a few other places like Guam.  It'll be nice to see those Navy/Marine Corps choppers you guys are doing.  Oh by the way, I won't give it away entirely, but there is a link posted on this site where if you gut off the .zip extension, you can get some really, really, really nice screenshots of up and coming aircraft from a reputable mod maker.

Hey Evisc, I don't know if its been asked, but are you planning on incorporating sliding doors like the Hueys Falklands Mod is doing?  I'm guessing that this involves a lot of work, but I thought I would ask.

well, what most people dont know is that selectthis has actually had sliding doors on his hueys for a couple of months or so now, and as hes on ballistics im sure his knowledge of coding will come in handy, so thats a yes, and its not too much work, just the same as making openable doors :)
