i just wanted to help anyone looking for pictures for research. if you get out of the chechnya piturs there are some great pics of russian gear and cammo as well

the best part of the internet is everything is legal, they cant enforce anything. only coutries can say 'these things are illegal' thats where you can run into problems....other than that freedom of speech at its finest

if you don't want to see such sites, try installing some filtering software. simple.

Most of the pictures are ok, they show some cool gear and action. You dont see any blood just some wounded soldiers but the pictures that werent nice were thr ones of the local population through they seemed to be getting along quite well with the russians.
I still remember the footage from one of the american "Smart and accurate" >:( bombings which looked to me more like WW2 carpet bombing that destroyed the hotel that the foreign journalist's were staying, in front of the cameras the pulled a severed leg out of the rubble, the a smashed head and some other body parts. :-\
And they call the rest of the world pointless killers.

Why do these arguments always kick off?
We're all friends here. Besides I think saying things like we Americans/British helped you do X or whatever is completely beyond your right to do so. If neither of you have been involved in a conflict fighting for the other then shut up.
Even if you have, I very much doubt that you fought in WW2 of the Falklands so there is no way you can throw these accusations around, and at the same time proudly add yourself to the group of people that risked their lives to do the other a favour.
A bit of patriotism is fine but shouldn't lead to insulting the other, especially in a nice, friendly forum like this.
Now kiss and make up ;) (before daddy gets angry....)

While I haven't been in the armed forces, almost every male member of my family has...that's why I feel the way I do about my country. I immediately fly into a rage when someone takes shots at MY home, as I'm sure anybody would if someone started giving their expert analysis of why "your country sucks."
Lesson learned - don't post stuff that's just going to piss people off and start wars.

Why don't you wait till OFPEC decides to put a OTD board up before wasting everyone's time with stuff you know nothing about. Of course I've been told that admittance will be very selective so you'd better clean up your act.
I'm British, I was even an officer in the army for a while and I was very proud for it. But I still manage to resist the need to say stuff like that especially if it's obviously starting to annoy someone. Even if you're being simply a little playful, just try to pick your moments and your targets.
So stop it, you're making me behave like a PC diplomat!

Why does one in three threads become a flame-war for no obvious reason. I never understood what add-ons had to do with politics and patriotism. Stay on topic so the mods don't have to step in each time, these people have lives too, you know.

Yeah we need new models. Would it be possible to import the russian soldiers from Ghost Recon into ofp? They really did a good job on the russians.

Slik, to answer your question. What stopped us from "winning" was outside nations acting as soldiers (Russian pilots, Chinese soldiers) in NV uniforms, when you have millions of people against a force of 500,000 that is spread all across an entire country, it makes it rather difficult to ever end a war, also militarily we WERE winning, just without public support politcally we were losing and quite honestly you win votes elections when people like what your doing and people didn't like what the president was doing. Thus the 1973 cease fire agreement in which NVA, South Vietnamese army and the United States stopped the war. After the U.S. withdrawel, U.S. forces promised South Vietnam aid in the event of NVA forces beginning their assault once again, this promise was broken by U.S. forces and the NVA took this chance to attack the south once again, and with U.S. forces gone, the possibility of victory could finally happen for them. South Vietnam fell in 1975, 2 years after the U.S. withdrawel. So technically, we didn't lose, South Vietnam did and it was already said by a NVA Colonel during the Tet Offensive: "Until the Marines left, we couldn't take that city" and a quote from a Vietnamese lady "We won Vietnam... we won. Not militarily, but spiritualy. We are losing that now, but we will win it back again" in a interview with a British reporter. Now please don't flame Americans about Vietnam anymore or misguided bombs because first of all, there is no such things as a smart bomb. If it kills, what is so smart about it. Second, we could mention things your country has lost violently in (The British-Afghanistan War where an entire British army disappeared from a force using spears.)
Please note this isn't a flame, but ending his question and me simply asking him and if possible others to drop this anti-American thoughts, because if it's Bush your so angry about, we don't like him much either. A matter of fact, many of us didn't even vote for him and Gore won the popular vote.
So let's just stick to the electronic war which is OFP, because OFP is where you will find the smart bombs, because nobody actually dies.
