Title: Recent OFPEC downtime
Post by: hoz on 05 Nov 2009, 18:26:46
In all my utter stupidity I deleted a crucial directory on the web server a few nights ago.  After I hit enter I realized what I had done and immediately started trying to recover the directory. This kept us from reloading the web site files until I had completed trying to recover the more important files.. the zips and rar files which weren't backed up. All data in the db was not touched, so mission reviews and ED resources and the Tags application should all be preserved. Rest assured I believe that I was able to recover most of those files in some fashion. It's going to take bedges a bit of time to get the site apps back up and working correctly so please bare with us until we reach that point. The forum maybe open through out this time and we will post regular updates to keep you informed.

Sorry...
Hoz

edit: It will be some time before I can restore any forum attachments so feel free to reupload any mission or ed resources.

Well, I'm very happy to see that it's still here, though in many pieces. Good work restoring it, guys. :D

When the site was down, the temporary index page listed something like "in the mean time visit these editing sites:" and listed Armaholic, Armedassault.info and BIS forums.

Umm okay, I guess you guys forgot to mention "one of your partner" sites...

Needles to say this was really disappointing to see whatever the reason behind it was.

Well, Armaholic and .info don't really offer a lot of mission making help, so it was kind of odd in that regards. However, they only put that "website" up quickly while they were repairing the main one, so it doesn't really matter that much what links they put. Especially that it's back now. Don't take it too hard, Snake Man. :P

I presume you meant your site though, right?

Quick heads up to all our members and guests.

We'll have to do a fresh install of the forum to take care of some leftover issues from the recent setback. This will only affect the forum files, everything else will remain the same and no (further) data will be lost.

I intend to do this sometime this afternoon, so if the site goes into "maintenance mode" today, that's why.

EDIT - all done, apologies for the brief inconvenience. The forum is working as it should again, any remaining issues with missing files etc. will be resolved in due course.

Just saw the message about missing resources.  For what it is worth here is the Faces and Voices resource for OFP.

I have found on my hard-drive the latest version of limmy3's "Killing Fields (http://www.ofpec.com/forum/index.php?topic=29586.0)" (was listed in missing resources message). Look in attachments.

WTF?  :D

BACKUPS, DUDES?! I can't believe I am reading the same shit again.

I think Mr. Peanut should have this:

"tutorial_triggers_scripts_addaction_in_multiplayer_11_baddo.zip"

I think so because I originally wrote it, based on a Kegetys' tutorial in Finnish, and then Mr. Peanut went and modified it. I probably have an older version of it around somewhere, but it's not as good. In fact I probably have the version by Mr.Peanut as well but I have no idea where it is...

Edit: Oh, and hi. I come here every once in a while and still have OFP installed! I can't get out of it and it can't get out of me. Not liking ArmA 1 so much and the computer can't handle ArmA 2 so I have a lot of reasons to keep OFP installed :)

Does anyone still have that script from Spooner?
http://www.ofpec.com/ed_depot/index.php?action=details&id=580

Unfortunately several items from him were only attached in the forum too
and are no longer available.

I've contacted Spooner through E-mail over a month ago but have not received a reply yet. Still waiting.
