Title: working destruction RTMs on visitor placed model
Post by: Linker Split on 29 Mar 2008, 15:14:18
Hi folks

Me and DeanosBeano are working on destruction RTMs for some palms, regarding an island I'm building, but in general to find out how to use them for buildings and trees.

vysilac_FM is a tower which has the animation RTM working even if the object has been placed in Visitor (so not editable via mission editor you know).

now we came to a problem more than an obstacle: we are trying to do the same for our palm models, but we tried different tricks, none of them worked so far.

Ok, please answer to these questions:

Does Visitor need in Project preferences a config?
1) See the image as reference: do we need to put something in Config class name box?

2) if yes, what config? island config, or model config???

THIS IS THE ANIMATION I'VE DONE FOR THE PALM, AND CONFIGURED WITH DEANOSBEANO (keep in mind that these models are placed in mission editor, otherwise I wouldn't have posted this topic :p):

Thanks for the tips you'll give us

You really should post your solution for others to see.
There might be someone looking for the exact same thing..  :)

Well, considering the interest on this, plus this problem was very specific to my mod, there's no need to post the solution, since it's veeeery long :)

well you are right , so i can say that the above config pointer has no bearing on the model thats being placed from outside the island folder in this situation anyway.
cant see any point going into detail about the mod specifics might cause confusion like linker says.
you could leave this open though should anyone have any specific questions raised by the thread header :)

in essence we was trying to retain the geo properties of a killed object that was animated , specificly with a binarised object that was placed in the wrp in visitor . or in laymans terms
