Title: Blue Skies II

Martin King is the local editor of a small Tonali newspaper named The Lorengau Evangelist. This is the story of his life, when a small but dirty civil war errupts on the Tonal islands. I need some input on my work in progress before I proceed. The story is the sequeal to my campaign Blue Skies (http://www.ofpec.com/missions_depot/index.php?ID=1320), that you'll find in the pending section of the Missions Depot. The main elements of the story are already fixed. I need ideas for short missions, that can be included along with the main story.

The story so far:
Following an unusually long dry season, famine spreads across the Tonali islands. The shortage of food causes an economic crisis for the export industry, and a socialist guerilla operating from the jungles, takes advantage of the civil unrest and demands a new election.

The president postpones the elections and asks the United Nations for support. UN turns down his request, but a small US force of military advisors is sent to aid the Tonali government. This was the political background from the Blue Skies I campaign. Let's move on to Blue Skies II...

The Lorengau Evangelist's demands are that the planned elections must be held. Thus Martin King finds himself in a dilemma. As an editor, he must argue for democracy and organize peaceful protest meetings.

But he is surrounded by a familfy, friends and neighbours, who are all plantation workers and therefore semi loyal to the armed guerilla forces. They want him to take part in a revolution.

The first mission sets the mood for the campaign. A riot errupts at a nearby plantation. Armed rebels open fire on government forces (and vice versa). At the same time protest meetings are organized on nearby farms. Martin King's objectives are to simple: Just travel around on a small portion of the map and witness what is happening at the plantations, in the villages and small towns in the Lorengau Valley.

In the second mission I want him to attend one of these protest meetings, when it turns into a stone throwing riot. After that I want the campaign to divert along two separate story lines. Martin King will have the option to continue to "fight" with peaceful means, or too join the armed wing of the socialist guerilla. But I don't want to take the easy way out, and kill of his entire family just to get the story going (like in Resistance).

I want the choice between the pen and the sword to be aviliable in every mission after the second one. Depending on player actions, every single mission may either turn out to be a bloody brushfire war or a sneaky stealth mission, where Martin King tries to do his job without resorting to violence (and this will of course be difficult).

So far I've started to elaborate on the following ideas (missions are about 50% done):

Thats sound awesome, really original and interesting ideas. Plus the non-liniar storyline will make replayablity very good, but you've structured it in such a way that the storyline will not suffer

Really like that idea

OK some ideas for missions **El Fisho seachs his rather uninventive brain**

Maybe you start one mission driving to somewhere for some reason, going to work or anything really.

Along the way you see a small group of Government forces, 4/5 who are about to execute a gurilla. Maybe you can see wreckage which indicates a fight. You have the choice to save him with violence, try and take a photo for The Lorengau Evangelist (obviously not easy) or do nothing. Maybe with not saving him having penaltys later when you go to meet the Gurrillas

This sounds kinda like a KOTOR thing where you choose one way over the other and each has it's own consequences. I like.

Ideas:
There could be a mission where you are in a villiage helping negotiations between this villiage and another neighboring villiage. The neighboring villiage is suffering from famine and demands supplies from the villiage you are in. You have to find a way to keep this villiage safe from the rebel villiage (because they support the rebels). Slip up and the peaceful villiage is destroyed. If it survives, you get a reward. If it doesn't, you lose something. I don't know what you should lose, but something very valuable.

Perhaps a mission here the govorment raid youre house (say after you meet with rebels) and you are arrested with the charge that you are a terrorist and you can choose to resist and try to escape before they can take you away (maybe someone tips you off via phone before hand) or you can go quietly.

So, like are you gunna get to choose what you say in conversation? Cuz if you don't this will just be one long campaign involving alot of chit chat.

I really like that idea

Another idea:

Maybe somewhere near the end, you get a tip off that there is going to be a government raid on your printing presses for sypathisising with rebels. You can either stand and fight or try and load as much as possible into a truck and escape.

And if you try and escape, you are stoped by USA troops/spec ops. If you saved the USA man in the rainforest he lets you go, if not then it someone else and you are arested and the next mission involoves escaping prison.
