Title: rifle with a laser

we have seen this from movies that a rile have a laser pointer sort thing attached to a gun. when the shooter points it at a person there is a tiny red dot on the person something like a laser pointer.

i wonder is it possible to do this with game? it looks nice from the movie and i wonder can i make it into the game?

The default BIS M4 spec op's gun has a red dot pointer aiming thing, buts its not very good, and you cant see where its pointing unless you look through the scope. Could be quite a challenge to make!

actually, the device used on the BIS M4 w/ scope is an aimpoint, ie a dot INSIDE the scope, not a laser dot "pointed" on the target  :)

wot avalanch3 has posted about is more or less a small laser designator (or so i think  ;D)

I somewhere saw a G36 with an laser , the maker of this makes a 3d model with a long stripe , but you can't saw where you aim   :-\

I my self have done that very thing I made a Desert Eagle and found I could use a cilinder (Sorry bad spelling (I think) :-\ :-\ :-\) and texturing it with (well I forgot (but it's in data.pbo) but it's probably not wat you ment but you can only see it in 1st person and I say it looks good it but has a range of about 10ft ;D

right if you make the beam narrower, and then perhaps update the textures
everyone will want it i no its not just me who wants it, I  think with a little work this would be perfect, good ;)

10m range isn't going to be so useful. BAS replaced the crosshair with a red dot to simulate a laser, but that wasnt great either.

How about the drop effect? You could check the weather time and rain to set i's visibilty. and also add an on/off switch in the action menu.

Sorry I made the lazer with out realising so (well I tried to make it longer but the texture messes up.) but that's all I can do.

What we want:
-A weapon,that has a red laserbeam pointed at your target.(after rightclick-->lock on)

Possible manner:
-When u right click a target,an EH incoming missile fires :
*this select 0:(the target)
*this select 2:(shooter)

-Functions calculate the distance and direction between the 2 objects.

-Drop command creates a red laserbeam between weapon-target.
(The red tracer drop is close,a few parameters need some adjustment based on the function-results)

-If it was that simple it would be ready tonight  ;D

Maybe there are OFP limitations,or other problems ,no idea..
(eg can u have a guided  primaryweapon?)

This would be a big project,only the best scripters can do that i guess..

I don't think making a long stripe is a good idea,because you can't see it far away.
But what about making a script to "fire" the laser point like the Res Laser Designator when using the weapon.

Maybe you can try this. ;)

I got hold of an m16 p3d (mlod) and may put the lazer sight on it. ;D

Wait a sec. Therre is a laser designator weapon in the game. Cant this be modified onto a weapon and have it be activated via the action menu. THen you would actually have a red dot. Mabey a little large adn the ability to call in bombs..... But besides the point. Is it not possible to add that via the action menu and use something from the laserdesignator weapon?
