I don't know if it will work, but try making a gamelogic the driver and set his behaviour to safe.    You'll have to remove the gamelogic if you want to allow somebody else to get in.

Hmm doesn't work ot maby i am doing something wrong.
I'll explain more.
The situation is that in this small town there are dead people lying on the ground, and that an empty car without anyone in it, and noone needs to be in it i shining on the bodies with its lights.

Add a west jeep, name it jeep1.    In the init write

this setbehaviour "safe"; jeep1D setdammage 1

which will give you a dead driver, which may fit in with your scene.   If not, try teleporting the driver away - deletevehicle him doesn't seem to work.

Hmm the dead driver thing doesn't look cool, and eventually the lights go off.

Maby there just isn't an awnser to this simple question.

I think a unit will only have it's lights on if it has a driver...

I was in the same situation you were a while ago, and I tried damn near everything to get a jeep to keep it's lights on.
This was for a cutscene, so in the end I created some M2 machineguns and suspended them in the air out of camera shot :D

Lit up the area very well, but it wouldn't have worked if it hadn't have been a cutscene (floating Machineguns kind of kill the mood ;D)
