how do i get a unit to join a group when the group is present near the unit?

I typed this in the leaders init field: grp1 = group this

and i made a soldier named b2

I created a trigger near b2 and linked it to my group do be activated when it were present. In the activation field i typed: b2 join grp1

but when i test my mission it says: 'b2 join grp1|#|': Error join: Type Object, expected Array

What is wrong?? please help me
