im building a fv432 with swing fire, and was wondering if its worth releasing it when i have a script to go with it?

-
Well, I'm trying to visualise it with the skin on, but if you do that well then yeah. I'm looking for some British vehicles and I'm pretty sure I can't be the only one.
-
looks cool i say keep going
-
ive got a few more others, im just not sure if to texture these other cvr(t)s with desert cammo for the fomer (operation iraq freedom) or to have them as the usual british cammo?
cvr(t) spartan

cvr(t) sultan

cvr(t) samaritan

mch-80 warrior

-
why don't you let OPGWC host your addon and we will texture it
-
all of them? ive got them in 3dsmax format u want dem
:-[ the problem is that ive tried to make them in o2 doing my head in ???, but ive found they are too hard to build swift (o2's too complicated)
-
UK forces have got a Chal II in the works, as you must know ;)
check the website
http://www.concept-5.com/ukforces (http://www.concept-5.com/ukforces)
i can say that it is very likely that a Warrior APC will also be done... don't wait around though ;)
-
but uk forces r dead at dis moment in time i prefer operation gulf war crisis p.s desert storm dude wats ure name in d mod's site?
-
hey i will talk to the team and see if they would like to take it off your hands
-
befor you do, ive got some better pics. im just concerned that theres too many polys >:(

-
Dead? nononon, far from it, iv spent a couple of weeks on the Challenger 2 since publishing the 3DSmax screenshot on the site, and the exterior textures are at about 35-40% done now, and looking nice, aiming to complete them in the next 3-4 weeks, so I can start the interior.
The Royal Marines are also having the LODs all ironed out b4 having the coding improved and then some testing to find any bugs, if you see less activity on the site, it generally means we are actually working harder, lol ;-)
expect some updated screens of the Challenger 2 in the coming few weeks ;-)
Also once we get the SA80/LSW to the right standard, the RM release shouldnt be too long off ;-), and no I cant give a date or estimate :-)
Texturing on the MLRS should commence in the not too far distant future, CoC have almost finished working their magic, on the coding/scripts, so once the textures are done, its 100%, minus final Beta testing, if we encounter no major hickups that is. It shall be a large texturing job though :-P
-
I don't know, spend a couple of weeks working and not posting updates and people think we're dead ::)
All I can say is patience Grasshopper ;) :P
-
hey swift email the models to me
quakergamer said he would continue after he finishes it. We have a couple of surprises over there.
baseballboy_25@hotmail.com
that is my email address
-
:-[,I think that them there models need a couple more days put in to them before they are textured.dont rush it man there comeing out very nicely.
-
Has UK forces released anything, if they have 've missed it but i've been wanting some UK troops for ages, if so can ya post a DL link or just a rough URL? Cheers
Vyper
-
here u go vyper
http://www.concept-5.com/ukforces/
i prefer uk forces guys to the GWmod, but that just my personal opinion
-
"You have a good mod there"
Here you go www.roughnecks.org/opgwc
-
I LIKE uk forces, but i recon the challenger will be too detailed to operate on the lower end of computers. (I like it v.much) i like the model though.
SWIFT (p.s wat units are u building at the moment)
-
True the Challenger 2 is at 2500 polys, 3500 faces and thats the finished article, compared to the 2500 the Challenger 1 model had, but its not an excessive count, so you'd have to either have alot of them on the map, or a really old PC, from checking other user made models in the past, iv seen many with alot higher counts, Im at around about the mid range count, I like to think ;-)
But to get it as accurate as I did it really required this sort of count, I myself wouldnt be happy if it was a very low count, as it wouldnt look as nice, and as accurate. Saying that, I have cut out some detail, thats where textures come in though :-)
If I do a version completely covered in gear then it would maybe be too high a count to have, which is a bit of a shame.
anyway,
adios ;)
-
ill have to agree with u, my models consist of high poly counts, but not as good as the quality models which are produced by uk or opgwc
-
Any new pic's Swift me old china?
-
before i give out a few screen shots of d models im just gonna say dat ive reworked d models. because they r really annoying me. theres gaps in the hull that shows up on opf, that wasnt there before >:( any way im sure that ill release a few shots in about a day or 2 ??? btw OPGWC is looking really cool http://www.roughnecks.org/opgwc/default.asp
-
If that's as a result of importing it into O2, it could be that the face just needs reversing or it could be that the import has screwed up somewhere along the line, try running it through Anim8tor again, I had that problem when I imported the Landrover model from Milkshape many moons ago.
-
another question? does o2 ever give up on errors, or is it a really bad egine to run off?
ive imported all my tanks for 3dsmax, and they either parts end up upside down, or theres parts that are not wanted (i know this isnt relevant to the rest)
-
That could be the import, the first time I imported the landrover model it ended up face down with missing faces, I tried it again and it was fine :-\
-
here u go vyper

cheers
but its now: www.ballistic-studios.com/ukforces ;)
-
i think uk forces is gud, but they dont have enough textures.............. operation gulf war crisis is really cool, because they have the scimitar. scorpian, the landrovers, the seaking a aircraft carrier, the LAV, and tonnes of other cool realistic units
-
you mean texturers ;-)
true we could do with another experienced texture artist or two, but then most mods would say that too. ;-)
Iv actually taken a 2 week break from editing myself, work has been very busy, but got 3 days of this weekend so gonna get some done.
OPGWC are good how they release things conistantly, wish we worked that quick, however I find not enough time is spent on getting them visually accurAte in both the model and textures, an area Im over fussy on, which is why I dont get the work done that quick.
Quality not Quantity as they say ;-)
-
OGWC are actually using my old beta model landies, I've since binned that model and made a new one from scratch, matbe some of Jonno's perfectionism has rubbed off on me ;)
-
ive finally bothered to start the production of the models in O2, and have just began the warrior tank

-
Looking Great!!!! Keep it up!
-
im gonna add the fv432 and sultan 2nite
-
could some one help me with the CPP for the warrior, and or the adding it into operation flashpoint (i know its not meant to be in this part of the forums) ditto with this fv432, ive just put this through o2. this is a portable command and control tank. I also plan to build a morter, ambulance and swingfire version of the 432. Maybe even a mine clearer if i can figur eout how to build one

-
Hows it going Swift?
-
errrrrm gulf war mod have taken over op's, ill get some screen shots later in the day
-
errrrrm gulf war mod have taken over op's, ill get some screen shots later in the day
So you have whored yourself to the Gulf War Mod ;)
Screens would be great mate :D
-
well if u read d signature, ull find im a 3d modeller of operation gulf war crisis !! HEHEHE ;D
any way back on topic, ill be making a number of variants of the tanks......... and im considering to build the oshkosh which will be used in the brit army replacing the scammell
-
Sorry to stupid to notice signatures...
Look forward to your fantastic work comming out.
Keep it up buddy :)
<I have a sig to>
-
dont u hate ppl who dont keep promises !!! ah well, quaker says that he hasnt touch my model :-\ but im sure that it doesnt bother u? :'(
any way keep u informed.
swift
-
Bugger I was hoping for some progress

Quality not Quantity as they say ;-)
Perhaps our goals are different. OPGWC's goal is not to release incredibly high quality addons, like BAS, DKM, MARFY etc etc. Our goal is to release to total conversion mod of OFP that takes place in the 1991 Gulf War. Because of the huge number of addons involved (and I really mean huge) the are the occassional sacrifices re Quality/Quantity.
It should be fairly obvious to most I think that if when tried to make every single addon at the highest quality to project as a whole would never be finished. To give you an idea, have a look at BAS. How many addons have they actually released? I can only find 4 addons available in their downloads section...all of really excellent quality and they have a much bigger team then we do. Their aims are different to ours of course. We will have 20+ land vehicle addons alone (not even starting to count air, soldiers, weapons islands, buildings, objects). That's because our aims are different.
Make sense? :)
-
every man to their own, personally I prefer a few excellent addons than masses of avarage addons, however I know what you mean about the time it takes, its a lot of work even if you dont go for that little bit extra its still a lot to do, however I must say, your addons have improved over at OPGWC that Challenger was apalling, forgive me for being honest, but some of the later stuff is much better.
Good luck, practice makes perfect ;-)
-
well jonno we all like a good model, but is it really worth waiting 10weeks just for one model (dont use me as an example tankie ;D) :-\ any way looking forward to your challenger and UKF's work.......
-
To be honest, the only mod I'm waiting on is the Falklands mod, who've took the opposite approach to OPGWC. Personally, I'd rather wait for a really accurate, well done and well excecuted mod than download something that wasn't half as accurate. But I'm one of those "I'll download it when it's done" people, and nothing irritates me more than a rushed release because of people whining about nothing getting released. This isn't an attack on OPGWC, but nothing that they've released has really impressed me. The problem is with the quantity over quality approach is that your work will get compared to work that's been researched for months and made by a larger team.
But, anyway. Back to the tanks.
Is anyone going to make an ACCURATE Scorpion or Scimitar? I got excited about the Malvinas Conflict Scimitar, until I saw that it was about as accurate a.... a.... very innacurate thing. That's drunk.
-
here is a screenie of the fv432 in the game

-
Well Kooky we got good news for you..
Falklands Mod is doing both the Scorpion AND Scimitar as they are the British Armoured units, all 9 of them!!! (4 Scimitars, 4 Scorpions and a Samson)
-
right listen up a listen up real good ;D, I need some one to take my model of the sultan tank (below) and try and import it into 02, because i havent got a registered version of milkshape, and have sadly expired :-\ so am stuck with models which i made ages ago from gmax, sitting on a shelf collecting dust...............any way if you can be a mate and do this, then could you PM me
Swift (ps. it will have a gpmg on top)

-
ive also got a salading which was hiddern away in gmax

-
CBFASI, I want to kiss your cherry-red lips and nibble on your shell-like ears... well, maybe not, but you've cheered me up a bit ;)
-
the scorpian by malvina's mod, is bad, because the geometry didnt have a weight specified when he built it i believe, because at operation gulf war, we have been beta testing a beta version of it
heres the samaritan, im hoping to do a spartan in a few days once ive passed these onto quaker

-
u recon i should make a whole cvr(T) pack, followed by a cvr(W) pack ie the fox, saladin, sarracen and ferret for the cvr(W),
and the spartan, the samaritan, the sultan, the samson, striker and god forbid, a new scorpian and scimitar for the cvr(T) ;D ;D
-
FERRET! FERRET! :P Oh happy days!
Swift, if you need any input on how your vehicles handle when you get to putting them in OFP, my old man drove a few vehicles when he was in the army, so I might be able so send some info your way, if you want. He drove the Scorpion, Cheiftain, Ferret and had goes on the 432, Saracen and Saladin (the last two I'm not too sure on).
-

-
I think they used the Ferret, if I remember rightly it was retired soon after.
Looking good so far :)
-
That Viking thingy looks a lot like a Haggelund Snowcat to me. Any info on it?
-
I like the Fox model, looks very nice :)
hmmmm the Viking, although I never knew that was its name, the model, is it missing the front (bonnet bit)?, or its unfinished?
They have one of them at Duxford Imperial War Museum just down the road from me, if im not mistaken.
Just 1 month till the military vehicle show there, should be going with my Digi 8
-
unfinished, the viking is a adaption of the bv snowmobile thingy with a front bonnet........
-
ive nearly built the saracen CVR(W)
and then ill start the CVR(T) group inc. Spartan, sultan, samaritan, striker, stormer(if i can find blue prints) Scorpian and the scimitar.......the viking, i couldnt find any good pictures (only 2 pictures on the net, which i could find ! And yes it is an Haggelund Snowcat
-
I've been meaning to go to Duxford for ages, it's the trip round the M25 and up the M11 that puts me off, what's the traffic like round there on the weekends?
Swift, I may have some pics of the Viking in a magazine somewhere, I'll have a look for you.
http://www.haggve.se/ - Manufacturers site may be of some use :-\ apperently they're now owned by Alvis
-
errrrrrr live not far from the M25 (off topic) where do you live DeLiltMon?
About Alvis etc, i think it will be hard to make a trailer script- and track animationss on both the trailer and front cab what you think??
-
errrrrrr guys and occasionally girls....... check dis out :o

-
and from this view

errrrrrr live not far from the M25 (off topic) where do you live DeLiltMon?

I'm living in Bristol at the moment, so it'll be a fair trek but one of my mates wants to go and his Mrs's parents live in Wokingham so she reckons we could crash there.
As fo the trailer I reckon it could be done, have a look at Vibes' Krupp Protze with a towable Pak 36, when the Pak is towed the wheels turn on that.
(http://www.axlegames.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5306 (http://www.axlegames.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5306))
-
no no no no... iwasnt talking so much about the trailer script (ive been doing alot of research on that becasue of the scammell commander) i was more worried about the track and wheel prob.. What day is it (duxford)the , because i live not too far from Heathrow / Windsor, so its not too bad for me!! (BUT I CANT DRIVE YET :'(
-
Do you mean the tracks and wheels on the rear "towed" half?
If so then I'm not sure, but I know that the wheels turn on the Pak when it's towed, presumably you just make the rear half as a seperate vehicle and the tracks and wheels will turn automatically when it moves, you could aways try pushing a tank or apc about in game to see if they move :-\
-
dunno, but ill like to see the viking cruise off a landing craft, pushing through the water to assult an enemy position
-
Might be worth asking Vibes, either that or just "suck it and see"
-
cheers mate..............nice 1
-
ok so ive finished the CVR(w)'S external models (some improvement needed) Any way, ill finish them by adding the interior LODS, and weopons, Quakergamer will texture it if he has the time 8) any way heres a pic of the saracen

-
you know the viking.......i read the alvis page and it said that the marines had/have made a contract starting on july the 1st...............but about 2-3yrs ago i remeber these atv's in the royal tournament (the bit where the marines run about and absail etc......... 8))

-
heres the spartan which ive just modeled (3 down out of the CVR(t) set, 3 to go).

just to inform you that i will be texturing them soon.......
PS. hows the challenger doing Jonno UKF's site seems to be OLD
-
Yeah, how's the Challenger 2 coming along? Be nice to take that beauty out around Everon and clobber some T80s with that lovely, lovely rifled 120mm gun :D
-
the samson

-
Just seen this ferret over at the official forums:
http://www.appc70.dsl.pipex.com/Ferret/ingame/1.jpg
http://www.appc70.dsl.pipex.com/Ferret/ingame/2.jpg
http://www.appc70.dsl.pipex.com/Ferret/ingame/3.jpg
http://www.appc70.dsl.pipex.com/Ferret/ingame/4.jpg
Looks like youve got quite a task to beat that!
-
Project UK Forces is currently in the process of designing a new web page to go along with the change of address...Hence the lack of updates...the challenger is still being textured but the work seems to be progressing well...Jonno has been working on it as well as the MLRS model.......
-
Eviscerator i think thats a great looking model...... let me just say it took me 2mins to build my ferret exterior, because im not really into the CVR(w) vehicles, im more intressted in the CVRT's
-
and for my next addon i will be making a pinzgauer 716M soft top, but without the back canopy (saw it in iraq at war last night on BBC2 when they where raiding houses) go to http://www.pinzgauer.uk.com (http://www.pinzgauer.uk.com)
