Title: Can't ALT-TAB anymore!
Post by: Reaper on 06 Feb 2003, 09:40:19
Ok I finally got around to reinstalling OFP after being away for 10 months.  I spent 3 of those in the hospital and several more in physical therapy after a car wreck.  :'(

Anyway, I've lost the ability to alt tab.  Sometimes it works, but most of the time all I get is the windows cursor, but the OFP editor is still in the forground, although I can't control it.  It's a pain in the butt to have to quit OFP to make a change to a script and then restart OFP every time.  Sometimes if I keep pressing it, I'll eventually get OFP back to the foreground.

I have Windows XP Pro, and I didn't have this problem before.  The only thing that I know has changed is I've installed SP1, and DX9.

Any clue how to fix it?  OFP and my desktop are different resolutions, I've tried setting them to the same, but it didn't work.

Well since dx9 is impossible to uninstall, there's not much I can suggest  :-\

But welcome back to the living Reaper!

hehe - i made a thread about this a month or so ago - this is how i sorted it out:

set your OpFP screen resolution to a lower resolution than windows uses (for example, my windows desktop is 75Hz, so i set OpFP to 70Hz) and suddenly alt+tab works again

i dont know why it works, it just does - on 2 PCs now too, so give it a try :)

EDIT: found my original thread - http://www.ofpec.com/yabbse/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=5163;start=0 few other suggestions you can try to get around it too

Hi

I had the same problem but solved it a little bit different.

Press ALT+TAB (nothing happen).
Then press CTRL+ALT+DEL and the task dialog comes up.
Press Cancel in that dialog and you are on the desktop. ;)
