Title: Hacked, but not too badly.
Post by: snYpir on 05 Feb 2003, 07:59:33
The forum has been hacked through a tiny security hole in YaBB SE. This hole has since been plugged.

However, I can not guarentee the security of your password. If you are a regular user of this forum, please change your password just to be safe.

There is no need for alarm, but it is better safe than sorry.

No information was lost as a result of the hack, and everything is OK.

Anyone with a YaBB SE forum (versions older than 1.5.1) is encouraged to read this thread:

http://www.yabbse.org/community/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=17919;start=105

It shows you how to easily fix the secutiry flaw.

Don't mean to sound naive, but is it absolutely neccesary to change your password?

Is it because the hacker has access to them?  :-\

And I rarely have to login to OFPEC, so if i was to make a new password i'd no doubt forget it and not be able to get in. ;D

In a similar hack, admins were sent their usernames and passwords by a mail bot.

I can only assume that the hacker(s) had similar access for a short while.

If it doesn't worry you, don't change your password. Obviously all staff members have changed their passwords ;)

these exploits are known all over the internet on most popular sites on this subject and any moron can access them. If you ever need help i can recommend a good site to you or ask the experts myself on this site how to fix current problems, exploits, or leaked information. Most of the time they have all these answers.

to robbo...yes most "hackers" really script kiddies like to use this type of comp language to scare or intimidate u...dont know why cause that means i can just track them down that much easier if they provide clues...oh well morons will be morons i guess.
