OK I'm sure you've all seen the chopper dust script which is awesome, here's an idea dunno if it's doable or not
When artillery or tanks fire it creates shock waves right down to the ground , shaking dust and dirt off the tank and artillery pieces , just my opinion but I think it would add a touch more realism to the game winter or summer.
If anyone comes up with a good script for this application lemme know please , I can script little snippets but have one heck of a time with big ones.
-
hmm u couldnt "shake" dust OFF of the tank, because the dust is the texture, unless they have changed this in resistance?! i dunno but u could definitely have dirt and stuff fly around and make it look like a shockwave from the blast shook all that stuff up.
-
Yes exactly , the texture cant be changed but as you described an effect that would make a "SHOCK" simulation with dust and small debris such as gravel shaking each time the weapon was fired would look nifty if done properly
-
yes it would...hmm im gunna see how they did all their stuff and see if i can get started on this...if i decide to do this ill update ya on it.
-
I'll be looking forward to script if you can get it done :)
-
I'll be watching here also. Very cool idea. I just thought of this while I read this thread.......After every 2 "SHOCK" waves increase it little by little and that might be a earth quake effect, place it near the Nogova bridge and at the climax have the bridge collapse with the final "SHOCK". :o

Ask Vektorboson hes really good at that and I'm sure he would think thats cool and would do it if you asked him.

Already contacted him, Alas he is busy with another project
I would really like to see someone try to geter done ,cause if I try I'll jack it up completley :(
-
If you care to wait 2 weeks I'll have the time to do it ;D
Though the question that I still can't figure out quite right, is when this schockwave actually occurs?

when the tank fires.
If you're gonna make it you would want to add an eventHandler for the fired event which runs the effect script...
-
Exactly, when it fires or miliseconds afterwards, and the effect wouldnt last very long maybe a second or half a second, but the debris , such as gravel and dust in the general vicinity of the tank or artillery piece is effected. And yes I can most definitley
wait a week or so for an effect script such as this, I figure between the heli dust and the big guns with shock waves it just keeps getting better and better.
The smaller artillery would produce smaller radius shockwave
I'm sure you know this already, I've only seen them on footage of artillery strikes and tanks firing but I've got the idea of what they look like. sounds like the rest of these fellows have seen em also so just ask anyone , or go rent a couple movies with
footage in them, for one I would suggest HEARTBREAKRIDGE
with "Clint EASTWOOD" after that I'm not sure but theres a lot of good examples on cable TV here in the states such as the HISTORY of WAR and THE WORLD AT WAR
-
u can go on the internet and find any movie with a piece of artillery or bigger weapons like that to see good examples...i am unable to do this now because of time restraints.
