Title: Addons don't load in the editor...!
Post by: Aldo15 on 28 Feb 2011, 00:39:38
Hi,

Ive decrypted the Bas BlackHawks addon, to fix them and add new textures, as a flag of my country, but when I convert them to a pbo file and I put it in to addons folder, I don't load in the editor, and I get this:

Quote
Error loading \BAS_mah60\UH60L.p3d (Magic)

Why?

What exactly did you change?

...and was there really a (Magic) ?

Well, I didn't changed nothing, just Ive added a text in the chopper, this is the text "EJERCITO DE COLOMBIA". I made the same with other chopper and no problems. I'll upload a picture of the chopper, I tried to make the same with BAS Blackhawks and I get an error.  I don't know Why?

...and was there really a (Magic) ?

That's right. That was what I got in the editor...

I never got (magic)...

Is the .p3d file called 'UH60L.p3d (Magic)'? That's the only thing which comes to my mind... Or maybe it's something in the .p3d file.

Did you change anything else? Maybe in the config?

Nope.

Yes, Ive changed the name of chopper.  Can I send the addon?

Yeah. Can you send it by email? (Walter told me that OFPEC has limited webspace - so I removed my uploads from the last posts)

Are you sure you have the model path in the config correct (I mean the line model="blahblah";)?

Have you the BAS Blackhawks?

If you have this addon, Why not try to decrypt it? (just decrypt... don't open the "config.cpp" file.) and convert it in PBO file and You could to see that the addon won't load in the editor.!

I hope I have explained this thoroughly enough.

Aldo

I think I've got the answer: Did you decrypt the .p3d file with ODOLexplorer? I downloaded the addon and noticed that the p3ds are not loading in Oxygen - so they're in ODOL format.

When ODOLexplorer saves a .p3d as MLOD the p3d is sometimes f-d up and you can't use it in the missions any more.

Is there any way to fix it? or does it always happen?
Also without save it as MLOD, the addon doesn't load in the editor, please try it!

Aldo

The only way I can think of is to get another model, an uncompressed blackhawk. I don't know if there are BIS models for the Blackhawk... If you find nothing you could go to the BAS homepage and ask them.

I didn't find a working homepage link, only an old email adress (not sure if it works) TJfx@ballistic.com

But I wouldn't be me if I had no emergency solution: just take the texture from the helicopters hull and change it. (You can decode .paa and .pac files with texView - simply save them as .tga - after editing encode them as .paa or .pac again: http://www.ofpec.com/ed_depot/index.php?action=details&id=182&game=ArmA )

I think the textures on the side of the helicopter are named bas60mid.paa and so on. (But you can't use TxtPathChange, so you'll have to change the original files)

I have the TextView2 What is better?
Is there any way to remove the old textures and to put new teextures? for example:
Remove all textures of the chopper and Leaving aside the the model .p3d

TexView2 is the newer edition - I think it's better (but I don't know if the compression method is different)

You won't be able to remove or change the texture paths from a ODOL model. You could use the MLOD model to find out which textures are on the model, then edit the original textures and overwrite them. That would do it, but the problem here is that you would have to change the original BAS addon.

I hope I have explained this thoroughly enough.
The reason I'm asking is that I remember this "Magic" error very well from OFP days and I have a (faint) recollection it having to do with model path being wrong. Either the model name or the pbo file it is pointing in or missing \ at the start of the path.

Basically same as "model not found".

In which version does it give a 'Magic' message (I'm using GOTY edition 1.96)? I always thought ofp tries to screw with me, but that...

I tried saving one of the ODOL choppers as MLOD and compressed it back again - it also gave me an error message, but it gave me something like

Ive made that twice, but but I always get the same.

Have you changed something?
Maybe is the BAS Chopper, because Ive tried the same with others vehicles, and they work!

@Aldo15 Have you tried it with uncompressed files, too? Or did you use ODOL explorer to save them and they worked?

Anyway, in this case I may need to see the patient personally (Although I'm sure it's not Lupus).
Could you send me the addon to Admiral.Norton@web.de?

Man, you got me interested in this case...

@Lenyoga:

The CH-47 has not needed the ODOL explorer.  I always need the ODOL explorer to open the BAS Blackhakws addon in the O2.
I'll send the addon to your mail, but I need to know what addon do you want...the original?

Just send me the one which doesn't work. I'll try to find out what's wrong.
