(F1) Place Unit -> (F4) Place Waypoint (Sentry) -> Place Another Waypoint of what you want him to do after alerted.

In Depth:
Your placing the unit you want, with a Sentry waypoint (a Sentry waypoint means he/she will hold that position until contact is made with an enemy party.), this waypoint will then finish and he will move onto the next.

Rommel  :P

I want to make an ai unit hold the spot he spawns in and stay there till attacked.

Some questions:
- Are you spawning the unit or is it already placed in the map?
- Should that unit react only if attacked or just after spotting the enemy? And after this, what is that unit supposed to do?

Then use the solution provided by Rommel, sentry wp.
