Title: Question about submitting
Post by: eisa01 on 27 Oct 2002, 17:57:16
I'm gonna submit a mp-mission within the week so i was wonderin:

do i have to include a overview.html file?
is the story included in the rating?
is it important with a very good camera work?

I hope someone can answer my question so i can submit my mp-mission!

An Overview is really a personal prefference i think but it is always nice and dont take much to do.

The mission will be rated in much the same way as SP missions so there don't realy need to be a story behind it, I think it just adds credibility and gives a purpose for SP missions.

For MP missions I doubt you will have much in the way of camera work but it is better to have good camera work than to have bad.

The oppinions expressed here are entirely my view and do not necessarily represent the thought of the rest of the reviewing team...

Overviews are NOT required for MP missions.  Why?  Because you don't see them.  The MP interface doesn't show overviews.

Briefings ARE required.  Even if you use simple text explaining the mission with links to markers on the map.

Like for a CTF map you should at least have markers for:

East Respawn
West Respawn
East Flag
West Flag

You should also have links to these markers in your briefing so the player can find them quickly.

A storyline is not required for MP missions OTHER than Co-op missions.  These are just like SP missions without an overview.

As for in-mission cutscenes, DON'T USE THEM, or if you really, really have to, then make them VERY short.  Otherwise all you do is annoy everybody that plays your mission.

Remember, online players are there for gaming, not the watching.

 ;)

I submitted a mission yesterday :)

Really, my first so I am ready for the criticism 8)

Well, I THINK I submitted a mission.....

I tried the http form, didn't work. Got strange errors, It was slightly over 3mb so that was probably the problem ::)

I have never used an FTP client, don't even know what one is!

I just used the link, and copied my mission zip onto your FTP page, it took awhile. I then continued with the other info and forms.

Did it work?

Thanks in advance ;D

Do you mean this one:

SOG: Seeing The Elephant by Nixer6

"This mission is a simulation of an SOG recon mission into Cambodia during the Vietnam War."

No... haven't seen it....  ;)

Just jokes dude.  It's there.

You would expect a 3mb file to take a while to upload.

 :)

Hopefully Backoff will have the Front End of the mission depot finished soon so we can start releasing some of these mission.

 :D
