A little bit about the mission itself:
This mision is lil more serius than da last 1... player is a special force soldier dat is sent 2 assasinate a general... from dere da situation just gets worse :D... a lot of scripts (by me, mandoble, Kronzky, and some oder ppl :blink:) its got also an interesting choice inside it... if u unlock it :D :P... it shouldnt b 2 hard if u r carefull :D da breifing is probably full of spelling mistakes ::) but im intendin 2 fix dat :D... its my 1st mision made wit da west side ever :D... dats about it :D

I did some testing it's a good mission and a tough one too.
That's how it went so far.
1.) A couple of times chopper crashed when he's moving to
insertion point.
2.) 8 times of 11 I die during heli insertion in case I survive
helidrop injured when touching ground drop height still too high
I guess ( did not read attentively instructions and didn't press
shift when on map click for insertion point, guess I didn't see
the forest due to too much trees in front my eyes. LOL
2.1) tried heli insertion in water but lost all my gear apart the
M9. I move towards the town but I already lost orientation. no NV
Goggles which makes it quite difficult to see I had to raise
gamma correction in video options to be able to see something. I
approach slowly in stealth. I get close to the fuel tank still I
got to find my bearings. I manage to get close to the church. I'm
crawling and advancing slowly. Wrong move I get killed.
2.2) next try- turned my gamma correction newly down - by heli
insertion in water. This time I choose the right point I didn't
lose my rifle and I'm not injured. ( it took me some time to
figure out the right spot )
Approaching the town from Northeast. Get close to the church I'm
crawling towards the fire and try to surprise the enemy. I was
too slow I killed 2 of them before I went down.
2.3)parachute close to the fuel tank tried direct approach on church from northeast. Got killed.
2.4) same approach as 2.3 got from behind the church somewhat close to the fire. Have been spotted and got killed after a short fire fight.
3.) approach from the sea along the coastline. 1st attempt got killed by soldier standing in front of building. Second attempt got newly killed. I managed to arrive close to the docks.
3.1) Got involved in fighting when approaching once again from the coast managed to defend myself for a while. I kill 6-7 enemies before I go down. Son of a b++++. Very tough mission. Try to figure out what's the best tactic to use.
4) complete stealth approach - try to find position of my target without engaging the enemy. I made it up to the church circling around to the left I have quite a view on the town. down I see three enemies sitting around a fire in the middle of the street.
trying to crawl down the hill. got killed by an enemy patrol. Bad move. It's very dangerous not killing the enemy and do a complete stealth approach you'll never know when they surprise you.
Conclusion so far
Difficulties in playing due to bad night vision without it's too
dark to see. I was forced to raise gamma correction and brightness to see something not using NV's.
I like it very much . . . tough mission . . .well made lots of scripts I saw. I'll keep on testing and keep you updated as far as I proceed some more and a s far as time allows.

i just updated da mision file... fixed da whole insertation tingy (never let da AI drive a choper by himself ::))
also added a savegame radio 4 beta testin
and lowered da soldiers skill to 0 2 make it easier
btw tried heli insertion in water but lost all my gear apart the M9.
dis is an Arma bug... i fixed it but dats totally not my fault

Like the starting picture of your 'productions' ;). Original intro, introduces the characters, but doesn't show too much of the mission's story.

Like the briefing, you could add a few markers though. For example, put one at Estrella.
Mission
At the start the chopper crashes into the ground, we survive though but I get out before it does more harm. I could use a few savegames as I'm playing it on Veteran.
There seems to be at least one guard walking around in 'aware' combat mode. The sniper is doing a good job, well done. Is there a special script you're using for him?
The cutscene is well crafted, it doesn't always work though, sometimes the player stays inside (blocked by the walls around the door). You might want to setpos the player to a position where the cutscene always works. And you want to look into it that the player gets a safer position after the cutscene, got killed twice after it because of soldiers looking at the port and thus me.
I'd appreciate it if you could include a medipack for the player to use. Had to crawl all the way towards the extraction point as I was injured in my legs. Couldn't find a vehicle in that try, later I saw a truck in town, haven't checked if it's usable though.
In the objectives: 'cedras' -> 'Cedras'
Died in the second town after eliminating 'the possible VIP'. Had to start all over, but haven't managed to reach the other objectives as I was doing some rambo'ing. Will try it later on cadet, will give me some savegames to allow for easier testing ;).
So far so good.

Hi LCD
could you add a version history to the mission. I downloaded now the zip once again is it the improved version since there's no Id number behind it which indicates the version of the mission. I saw that the zip file has the same name. It would be nice if you could indicate which version the player's playing. This first version is very challenging never got the first town cleaned. I'll check out the new version now.

Right now the mission is too hard.
I had similar problems that others had with insertions ending in death.
Whay can't the helo just land at a desginated insertion point and drop me off?
I also think that you should remove most of the enemy NVG capabilities. Limit to only gun crew and officers I think. Right now, super AI is zapping me from long distance and most of the time I can't even see where they are until I get killed and the camera shows a spec in the distance.
Another AI problem is that a lot of the guys seemed to in the same group around objective 1. After initially killing a couple of guards, I found that if I hid near a corner, they would all come running down the street into my bullets. I reckon a few groovy seek and destroy waypoints set off at different time and in different directions would solve the AI's lemming mentality.
After leaving the building I tried to x4 speed toward the next compound and your sniper script threw me some error messages. not sure what they were.
I then got killed again at the second compound. I ran out of ammo on the third attempt and quit.
I think you should give our guy a default loadout so that player can just start the mission and have a fairly goos selection as default. I'm not sure I needed all the satchels but who knows.
Also my radio messages had no callsigns. If that was meant to be so be it but if not, you might want to put some in.
The mission has promise but it needs some tweaks here and there. Mainly difficulty wise, spelling and grammer and aesthtics.

Radio callsigns like Alpha, Bravo, Charlie etc. Right now they're just sets of numbers. I know they are in essence numerical callsigns but I meant the other kind.

Regular, V1.08 FDFSounds, Truview Mod
Intro:
Some nice effects, well done. The only thing missing is some Pulp Fiction type music.
Briefing:
Lots of spelling problems, I can point these out if you like but you’ve already said you’re going to improve that.
Mission:
Insertion went fine, I just chose somewhere close to the start point. It’s debatable whether you need to give the choice.
Headed straight up the road and found a doorway to hide in and sat there for 2-3 minutes silently taking out the patrols.
Nice effect in the house blowing up. One time I headed up main street and got the msg about not defending position, then when I’d clear the building and running up the beach I got an error like _bullet # createvehicle, type any expected object. Then got another msg Titletext “don’t worry I’m right..” missing ; then got loads of text.
I got moved up to Cedras (bit of an atmosphere killer being moved by the mission maker), started getting into a bit of a rumble, took out 10-15 or so dudes, blew up the APC’s and got another error Units [select 0, select 1] ordergetin true. Couldn’t quite get the error msgs properly coz by the time I’ve alt-tabbed to word, wrote the first part, alt-tabbed back the msg has already gone.
Searched and searched, got nothing, apart from an endless supply of loons and didn’t know if previous errors effected things so quit.
Radio option only says “Alpha”, is it the savegame?
Looks like this has bags of potential but has “issues” at the moment.

The first error messages that MrN noted were the same I got. A bullet and some titletext.
Also, the Savegame needs to be called Savegame.
Talking of saves, you should add an automatic one after the insertion and one after the explosion.

The insertion still caused some problems. Some hint shows itself at times, "0.561" for example.
Don't like it that I have to use the bandages multiple times in order to heal myself completely. Can't you automatically use as much bandages as needed?
I get the conversation thingy about Mandoble while everyone is dead, including the general. Walked over his body. Quite weird ;).
Don't know what radio options 2 and 3 are for, you using them to test the mission?
Couldn't get the "destroy all tanks at cedras" to complete. Somehow there was something that I had to destroy, got the M113, Vulcan, T72, Littlebird and a truck. Please look into this bug.
Well thought of, I like the choice you give to the player. There were a few bugs however. First, the voices in the Angel cutscene are too fast. I can't read all of the voices towards the end, please fix this it's kind of annoying. Second, the beeping sound keeps playing while you have to assassinate Mandoble.
There were a few weird hints, showing a array with numbers and I think the information passed to a hint by a KILLED eventhandler.
Don't forget to turn the other player (Human or Angel) off as a playable unit. I tried switching to the Human after I died and turned out that I was not at an island southeast of Sahrani.
Haven't completed the mission by the way, a patrol eliminated me before being able to find out what trees I had to be at in order to trigger the ending. Will continue it later.

Not sure if you can comment on Tarantino if you've only seen part 1 of a 2 part movie and haven't seen his classics. (Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction) :scratch:
Not saying he's the god of all movie makers but damn he chooses some good music. :cool2: But if you've found something cool, that's the main thing.
Oh and as Cheetah points out, no readme, no version numbers, no advertising pics. :dry:

Pulp Fiction is cool, but that's my opinion of course.
About pictures, take a look at the Fida'i review. One images was used (overview image) in the review itself and I took a screenshot to accompany the newspost on the frontpage. There, two advertising pictures. Get it?
I mean the text in the cutscenes, when the enemy spoils all the sniper fun. Like the cutscenes by the way, the style and humor it cool. Keep it up :good:

Haven't finished your mission yet due to lack of time. I like your mission very much. :good: It has atmosphere . . . very good enemy placements in my opinion. especially on the main road close to the 1st objective.
This time I figured a pretty fast way to close on the house where my target's supposed to be located. I headed up the main road went to the ruins to my left I proceeded straight ahead entered the 2nd house, after the heap of ruins, to my right and went out on the mainroad. Unseen by enemy so far . . . no single shot fired. From this point I start sniping any target I can see . . . I have pretty good cover but I'm stuck. All former attempts to proceed in stealth without engaging the enemy failed. i proceed carefully. I cleaned the area around the target but I found already some dead corpse. I guess it was my Guardian Angel. Well . . . entered the house and a nice cutscene appears. First time I saw in AA a soldier jumping the wall. LOL
well I took the car to close on my next objective. Next cutscene and I was on foot. ( Maybe you should lock the vehicle if you're not suppose to use it)
That's where I am so far.
No bugs encountered so far at least not until the first objective is completed.
I did not see any error message
Helo Insertion is very smooth now, no case of injuries suffered. Even when the chopper nearly touches the ground and I exit I didn't suffer any injuries that's where in the former versions I always got hurt. It depends where you indicate your insertion points with the on map click I guess.
But most of the time the parachute insertion works fine.

Aahh see the new version . . . downloading now.
Observation: You should add some radiofiles to the text and it would add some more atmosphere to an already good mission. I see you like Ennio Morricone. :whistle:
It's amazing to see how much heavier to download the file gets as soon as you you add some music into the mission . . . from few kilobyte to 3 MG over a flip of a coin.

LCD, I'm bummed! This mission looks really cool (especially because it stars ME as the Human), but the intro crashes for me during the intro.
I tried 4 times, and it crashes to desktop for me during the first sniper shot in the intro.
I have version 1.08, and don't have this crash problem with other missions...very strange.
Anyway, I really like what little I saw:
- Cool LCD Productions cell
- ME as the star!
- Ennio Moricone music (always super-cool)
- Cool slow mo
But, crash to desktop...anybody have a guess why?

I'm playing with version 1.08. Never experienced any CTD with this mission. Do you have any 3rd partie addons in your addon folder? In case yes try to remove them temporarily and see if it's still crashes.

get yourself some Voice actors and implement the radiofiles that they can also be heard. Then the mission will be perfect. i could do this but I'm European and don't have much of an american accent. If you could get some american voice actors I could help out with the sound editing in case you need it. Maybe you're capable on your own I don't know. That's the only thing I'm missing. For the rest it's a dood mission.

The intro really blew me away..very nice, I'll have to take a look how things are done:P;)

I start by inserting very close to start pos, I just walk up the road, still not convinced you need this insertion method, a simple start in a parachute or start on the beach with a boat driving off would be fine.
Walk up to the town, hide in a building and clear the town, save

Some titletext and notice "We got the informaion" (information)
Usefull (useful) information
Alos (also) some tanks in the next titletext
I progress a bit more and get a cutscene

Get an action check Body (Check Body)
Had great fun clearing the base. Ran out of things to do, had a rampage in an APC, flew the chopper round for a bit, looked at some bodies and not much happened. Double check the briefing and decide to blow up armour. Stood a bit close to the blast! :blink:
After a few attempts found the body, clicked and got “sd.sqs not found” :dry:
Destroyed all the armour, the reply "you did good job", doesn’t sound right it should be either "you did good" or "good job" maybe.
Not much happened after this…I guess the missing script is the prob.
Looking better, less errors at the first objective and some clues about Cedras worked ok. Just got to fix some typos and sort that missing script out.
I don't know if it's intentional but the captive radio calls were still present (which I didn't use, honest guv), it would also be nice to have a version number in the overview.

Well LCD I am getting the CTD at the intro also. Right after the SVD fires at the hummer, it kinda freezes then CTD's.
I have my few addons in a sperate mod folder with it's own shortcut. I used that one first the I used my plain vanilla 1.08 shortcut. Same results with both.
Too bad looks real cool so far.

Yes... I use the Atari version
GF 8800 GTX and Asus P5N-E-SLI with a C2Duo e6600
Settings are basically "High" all around.
I will download again and check it out. I'll pull the addon folder if it does it again. Might be some 8800 issue.dunno.

Well I got as far as the officer landing at the camp via heli. Died again......
I don't hate the heli inserion :no:......I just wonder what's up with that jumpy and slow 360 deg turn the heli does before moving out to the insertion point?? I opted to land instead of para in, worked great.
The voices seem kinda low in volume to me also.

Others have reported plenty of spelling mistakes, so I'll not pay attention to those. :)
There were some glaring grammar mistakes though, such as "Be weary of your six", sic. I think you mean "Be wary of your six"? I digress...
Overview
Nice, concise, no problems.
Intro
Love this intro. Only problems I saw were BIS related, you did one hell of a job forcing the AI to do what you wanted though.
Briefing
Who could ask for more. Information out the wazoo.
Mission
Well, the first part went smooth enough, apart from the super slow helo insertion (I understand this though as the AI, particularly pilots, are a mother to control.) Took out some infantry, moved into the building, enjoyed the little cutscene. I like how you made him jump off the ledge! Tried to steal a 4x4 to drive to the extraction point... too hot! lol. Made me use some bandages, which brings up another point...
I broke your medipack. I haven't looked at the script, but I think when you use the "Heal Completely" action, it uses a set number of bandages. If you don't have enough, it goes ahead and gives you negative bandages, so I could heal myself as many times as I wanted from then on. Checking it with something like "bandages == 0" ?... maybe use bandages <= 0 to remove the action.
On to Cedras... I like the computer hacking deal, took me a couple tries to figure out. So then I clear the whole village out.... and... nothing. :( I never saw an officer, never got a message that I killed him either. I checked each dead body a couple times. I even took the helo on a little sight seeing tour. Nada. :( I went to the extraction point... nada. So I was forced to quit. Can't continue.

I love what you've done with scripts. The plot and the voices are a bit hard to follow, a la "This doesn't feel right...I wouldn't defend a leader like that." radio message that popped up randomly? I didn't know what it was eluding to.. I was just crawling around at the time and didn't see anything.
Anyway, apart from not finding that tricky officer in Cedras, I enjoyed the mission. (I really don't like the whole lone-wolf spec-op night mission kinda thing though, but that's completely personal taste, nothing wrong with a mission like this.) Keep up the good work, I will have to reverse engineer some of your scripts if that's ok. :) If I use/modify anything I'll definately credit you. Nicely done so far LCD!

I finished the mission today. I like it. I got one error right after Mandoble was whacked: script randomwp.sqs not found. Pretty much everything else has already been mentioned.

Intro works great now. Sniper fires just one shot....and El Prezs chopper died :clap:

Oops, yeah I played 0.61... I didn't have any trouble with it as far as difficulty, and the officer was right where the map said he was.

The first time that I see anything about the sniper is after I am heading for extraction.
Prior to that, I get some very weak (still) radio messages about the general. Is it just my tired old ears or are they realy low volume?
Still trying to get past the base with the officer who flys in via heli.

First instance I get of the tracker was called strat track I think. After I’d used it and switched off it became Start Tracker.
Nicked the Vulcan ( I would say this should be locked like the other tanks or if you don’t want to lock it put the “Keys” in the pocket of one of the loons around the fire.
Head towards where the rifle should be, spot a couple of bad guys but they disappear in a hail of Vulcan fire, find the ammo crate ok.
In the titletext, one of the instances of Officer is officer.
Pick up the sniper rifle and get teleported off somewhere else and find out afterwards the whole place is crawling with enemy. Meh :confused:

Have a mount waypoint hovering over me to get into the Vulcan. (need an unassignvhicle command maybe?)
My escape route is now somewhere different.
Have to face getting out of here with a silenced pistol and a Sniper rifle, surrounded by loons. Without even having the pleasure of the kill. :weeping:
Several retries, take out 3-4 groups of 4 with a silenced pistol and decide to pinch an M16. Head towards the extraction and get an error pop up:

Conclusion.
I didn’t blow up the armour (my fault) and I still had “find information about the sniper” objective unchecked. And I didn’t get to play with the hacking thing. :(
What I like:
The scripting is very clever stuff and the control of some the characters is very good indeed, like the cutscene with my character jumping out the doorway (could do with a bigger explosion though;)).
The setup/scenario is quite intriguing, normally this would be a Rambo mission, player against the world.
What I didn’t like:
The breaks between scenarios, it kills the atmosphere when I’m teleported to another area. I don’t have any objections to walking to the next section, just give me a reason to go there. To move to the 2nd part I just need instructions to go to the base to kill the officer and get the intel. I know why you move the character so you can have the little scene with the Angel, you could still have something similar when you get near the base. To move to the 3rd part just tell me to go to the bush and lie up until you can take the shot, then have the small cutscene.
I never like it in a mission when I’m told to stop and surrender, like hell I will! Especially after fighting through 12-16 loons to get here. What about fighting and when the player gets injured (tricky one to manage, but I’m sure you can come up with something) then tell him to surrender.

Until I fix my mouse or get a new one I will not advance pretty much in this mission :P
But it has a quite good intro :clap:, I would suggest you to preload cameras for the intro, so the textures are ready when they must be ready ;)

Ok I finally finished it. :clap:
Loved it LCD.
The extraction point was changed to getting in the RACS MH6 that was sitting at base. I got in as pilot and then what???? :scratch:
When I started the engine and lifted off...there was a script error....zero divisor error soemthing like grp - grp|#| select yada yada.
I didn't know what to do next so I flew to the original extraction point...got captured and saved by the Angel.
Had to shoot alot of bad guys to win this one. :cool2:
The hacking thing was cool but I got detected and it quit working. Did I screw up or is that how it works?

My first review (or After action report....boh)
Please be kind and try to understand my english that is all but far from being english.
My persoal opinion is that this mission is really well thought an well structured with a lot of suspence.
Unltil the end you think that your HQ want to let you down.
The objectives are well put and the enemy too and when you are near the camp with the tanks on the beach they try to catch you from the sides.
I used a lot of patience to win.
All has already being told on the intro and the Morricone music
The mission was tested with insert point from lighthouse, church and the main street of the village.
My option here is from the main street.
Found two vocal easter eggs. :yes:
Weapons used for the test:
Default loadout (Not used very much because the silenced magazines are hard to find from the dead)
M4A1 M203 ACOG (My best choice in all missions. The stealth thing for me is not always true in ARMA. When you shoot always all the world runs to you).
MP5SD (great weapon for stealh but to fast to go out of ammo)
M16A4 ACOG with M203.
In this test I used M16A4 ACOG with M203 (when near out of ammo I took magazines from the deads)
No problem found.
The only problem but not a mission bug ,I think, is that the radio with the save option disappeared after the first cut scene when I was saved by the angel.
With this new version the radio disappeared without reloading the mision, but here, for me, is a bonus.
In the new intro the angel don't shoot but the HMMWV driver dies. :scratch:
Insert point at the beach and followed a path to the gas station and than the street.
When the street marks a turn gone prone and hide near the house on my left.
I saw the first guards. The fight begins.
The sniper do its job and I waited untill the most part of the enemy soldier are died by the sniper or by me.
From this position I control the whole street and the enemies have only that street to come to me. :good:
Than I go to the house and had the cut scene of the jump that, for me, worth the mission. :clap:
Folowed the orders and exited near the water to the way of the extraction point.
Cut scene.
Here the radio from the map is gone and no more save options. (Even without reloading the mission just after the little film).
Checked the body and I have had evaded well because no vulcan and no patrol coming to me (or I did not see them).
I went west to the beach near the sea and continued to the little gulf where there is no obstacle to enter the base.
When I tried other way I had no joy because during the fight I had bad sight for the grass.
Using the sand dune as cover I killed the driver of the tanks (If you use MP5 they have the ammo for you).
Another fight begins, but here I had a lot of patience because my back is covered by the sea and I had the position on my own
to look in front of me and at my left and right, killing everything that moves.
When the calm return, prone, I went to the tanks and put the C4.
And always prone returned to my old position near the sea.
When I saw a couple of soldier near the tanks I detonated the C4 to let the enemy number go down.
Always prone new fight while searching for the officer (pay attention! somtime he has a group protecting him) :o
Killed the officer and checked his body.
Objective complete
Now waited a few minutes to see if somebody was still alive... and begun to search for the computer.
Before entering the computer room I saved and tried the hack.
I made 7 - 8 hara kiri because I wanted to crack it! (I always had problem cracking it). :weeping:
Now I understood how to do the hack and started tracking the ammo box with M24.
I had a little fight with a couple of survivors in the base.
Near the area of the M24 box great fight with a patrol squad.
I took the M24 and waited.
Cut scene
I finally choose to play as the angel (for the hacking thing always played as the human).

Killed Mandoble with one shot one kill (great touch give the wind speed and direction) :cool2:
I evaded the squad searching me and go to my tent.
Rearmed some magazines and follow the new orders.
I found the camp where the human is and after a little fight I was ready to free him.
I was in a bad position because the tent was in my LOS and I had to be accurate not shooting the prisoner.
DONE!
BRAVO LCD!
Note:
The hardest part is when the vulcan come to you. You have to be really stealth or to kill an AT soldier and stole the bazooka to kill the vulcan.
The end as the Human for me is more hard than the end as the Angel.
I had an error message "ordering true division by zero" whe I was near the truck in the garage and an enemy came to me from my left. But I think that this is due to the fact that I alt tabbed a couple of time to let my video card be cold (Very hot here and the pc heat very much) (to be virified but I think that that was the problem - I mean some variable has lost its content. another explanation could be that using the in game save and reload I lost variable content as LCD explains in the notes of the mission).

I used the saveoption in the radio only once, before going in the house where the officer should be before the jump and the explosion.
If nobody else has signaled the problem but only me don't get crazy to solve it, I say again here is a bonus for me I don't have to call for extraction...
I watched the intro a few times:
First time: the HMMWV starts its course but stop almost immediately whitout the shoot
Second time happened what MrN said:
"First shot on the hill hits the ridge, driver still dies".
Not seen a clear shoot... but it will come if I see it again.
I think is how the intro is loaded.
difference between version 075 and 08:
The texture now load immediately at the beginning of the intro.
The texture with Mandoble shooting the two civilians now take a long time to load for the buildings and Mandoble starts standing up after go on his knee or sometimes go prone. But this was in the 075 too. The intro in this part is not always the same
Could be only a problem of mine I don't want to take you in the wrong way.
I don't want to think at what will be "guardian demon"... :clap:

FWIW I've experienced this in Dyna War, I'm guessing (no testing to confirm) that changing radio messages (in my case chaging the number of savegames) screws it up. Instead of using the radio in the map screen you can still use 0-0-1 generally.

From what I've read this could be to do with the civilian FSM, so there's no way round it, it's hard coded in the game.

So far I've got into the town, killed a few guys with a silenced pistol and I am just slowly but surely killing each and every one of the bad guys so that I can get to the General.
I've been enjoying this mission too, although there is one thing that did leave me a bit WTFed. There was a lot of weapons fire suddenly occuring, and I could see tracers wizzing by the top of the building I was laying prone on. I couldn't immediately see where it was coming from, as I had some weapons fire around me too. Initially I thought the AI had gone bonkers and started firing on the building I was on the top of.
Then I looked at the top of the lighthouse and saw someone was up there and was shooting every bad guy with pinpoint accuracy. :blink: Is this the Angel that is up there?

One small error in the mission....a script not found, right after Mando was killed. Royal something or other .sqs ???
