Post by: sharkattack on 25 Jun 2007, 15:20:05
hi ..
since installing patch 108 i am no longer able to alt tab to other programs (notepad) whilst editing ...
every time i try  arma  encounters a problem and needs to shut  down ...
this only started happening since 108...
any one else having similar issues and  is there a work around ?
many thanx  in advance

I would run ArmA in window mode if editing. It's much faster and I find it more effecient. I can view my script to one side of my screen while ArmA is in the other. If theres an error I can see it without leaving the game.

Simply -window as a parameter in your shortcut.

In window mode I found a new problem with 1.8. Sometimes, after switching from ArmA to notepad, what I get is "old spanish" keyboard  Closing ArmA and opening it again fixes the issue

Open the properties of the shortcut and edit the Target field as such:
X:\Games\ArmA\arma.exe -nosplash -window

Well that certainly is odd because that works for me just fine..
Mind you that the example is for M$£€ SuXP..

Try removing the quotes or changing them to
"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" -nosplash -window

And we are going soooo off-topic (this has nothing to do with editing per se)...  ::)

"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" -nosplash -window  is correct, off topic is also correct.

It seems fairly On Topic if you can't alt tab out of the game.

Personally, I am able to Alt Tab out OK, I just end up CTD'ing after a few times with the "can't create surface" error.

Never tried windowing the game, will check it out. Thanks

Well, yes, it is On Topic as far as the topic title goes, however as OFPEC is an editing only site, in that context it is Off Topic
