Title: save tool
Post by: gambla on 10 Jun 2007, 14:31:00
Hi,
do you know if there is a save-tool (press button x and quick-save) for ArmA out yet ? There was one for OFP and i love it.  :good:  (It simply renamed the save-file, so you could save again.)

I know i got unlimited saves on "easy" but i want to play in "veteran"-mode.

cheers,
gambla

Save tool?

Hold left shift and press minus from numpad, then let them go and type 'savegame' doesn't that work...?

Look more from:

By the way this works for OFP too  :good:

Edit: noticed your other thread about the same subject in BIS forums (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?s=de9857720680494d005ff1afafe1fa88;act=ST;f=64;t=64066;st=0;r=1;&#entry1091218) and also a comment from MaddMatt that the savegame cheat doesn't work... and I tested it in version 1.05.5136 and I couldn't get it to work. I am sure I used it in ArmA already in some earlier version so it has become broken as a result of some patch I think.

savegame cheat doesn't work in 1.02, 1.04, 1.05, 1.07.51xx beta nor in the latest 1.07.5157 beta.
So it's safe to assume it doesn't work in 1.00 either..

Although I haven't tried using it in 'easy' mode, maybe it works there and is bugged and not working in veteran.. :dunno:

Well then I guess I remembered a dream of mine or something  :D

No it doesn't work in Cadet mode either.

It's something that should get fixed by BIS, but not with a high priority though. It's not a showstopper.

And doesn't work in 1.08 either..

Aa-and we're drifting sooo off-topic:

I never have considered savegame as a cheat though, it's SP only feature and good for mission debugging..
Plus it's a computer game.. ::)
Although I wish in RL there would be buttons like delete, retry and esc  :D

Anyways, if one really wants to have multiple saves in Veteran mode you can always do the following (in windows XP and lower, dunno about Vista):
- Play the game in windowed mode (to avoid CTDs or complete systems hangs that may happen due to alt+tabbing)
- Save the game when you feel the need
- When you want to save again, put the game on pause (esc)
- Enter Windows, goto 'My Documents' -> 'ArmA' -> 'Saved' -> depending on are you playing a campaign or a single mission select either 'campaigns' -> 'campaign name' or 'missions -> 'mission name', find the file save.ArmASave and delete it (you can make a backup of it first if you wish)
- Enter ArmA, un-pause and then pause the game again and you have the 'Save' button back..
