Title: Make an OFPEC Banner
Post by: nominesine on 01 Oct 2006, 14:26:42
New Game - New Name

We are changing our name. The Operation Flashpoint Editing Center is now OFPEC - The Editing Center. Now we want you to supply the artwork for us, and hence you have a chance to get your work displayed on our front page. The reason behind the name change is twofold. We intend to support Armed Assault just as we have supported Operation Flashpoint, and we want our name to be up to date. The second reason is the most important - OFPEC is what the community has been calling us since we first opened back in 2002.

How to make an OFPEC Banner

This sticky is intended for those who want to submit artwork for our front page banner. This is what you must do if you want to see your own art on OFPEC's front page:

1 Make a banner from screenshots, some photo's or your own drawings. Be as creative as you want to be.

2 Save it in .jpg format and attach it to a post in this thread. All submissions must be exactly 950x150 pixels

3 Don't worry about the OFPEC logo. We will fix that for you. Just send us your artwork.

4 The best entries will be used as banners on our front page. The example above would look like this.

Notes: For those of you who insists on doing everything yourself, there's a small file attached to this post. It contains a photoshop .psd document, with the OFPEC logo, the grey frame, and everything else you might need, in separate layers. Download it if you need it.

This thread is not intended for discussion about the artwork. Just banner submissions here, please.

I took on your request...
I kept the current border from old one so it matches the current ofpec theme. I have also left space in the middle for the OFPEC logo

I personally can see improvment, and if you can say where also then do PM me (dont reply).

And So It Begins.

Submitted banners will be displayed for approximately 14 days at a time. They'll be rotated in no particular order, so if you don't see yours up for a while, don't worry - it will go up.

Brandon, I don't really understand why would you post the same thing here and in the competition thread
I mean this is basicly cosidered duplicate posting..

It was an accident. I posted in wrong thread initially.. Then realized I had to post it in the competition thread.

Perhaps lock the normal thread during the competition? Idk. Was purely accidental.

hi folks,
I try alittle bannerwork for the OFPEC Competition.
I neither can't reply in the "official" topic nor send bedges an pm, so I must insert it here.

Maybe it's usefull for you.

Sorry for my bad spelling,
Indy. :)

VBS is off-topic at OFPEC so it should not be mentioned in the banner..

Also, I know that bedges is not a fan of animated pics  :D

The banner is animated to show you several screens and types of the bannerwork, there are also seperated.

No VBS, np I could delete it.  :)

It's a good idea but I am one of those people who don't like large changes in animated files.

In the banner the whole image is changing and it can become distracting for some people.

A better idea in my opinion would be a simple PHP image rotator. You could use each one of them slides as extra banners and randomly change it to a different one on each page load.

ArmedAssault.eu does it, and it works quite well.

Well, as far as I know. The plan is to change the banner every month (or fortnight).

that is indeed the plan. i appreciate that indy was simply saving space and putting all the banners into one (animated) space, but have no fear - ofpec will not have an animated banner.

many thanks to all who have contributed so far  :good:
