Title: Changing Marker Text?
Post by: Mr.Peanut on 27 May 2005, 17:03:26
There are commands to change marker size, type and color in-game.  Is it possible to change marker text in-game as well?

Give me some credit for not being a complete idiot.  I want to know if the text of a marker placed at design time can be changed in-game via a script/trigger etc.

Don't think so.   The workaround is to make the first marker invisible and replace it with a second marker.

No there isn't. Unfortunately BIS overlooked that one. It's available in VBS1 however, so hopefully it will be in AA as well :).

ouch - in future try read more carefully what's the problem before
trying to get your head out of sh**t with teaching others what
they should better do next time.  ;)

Peanut's question was clear to everybody who knows what it was
about.

@Peanut:

unfortunately, Macca and GB are right, there's no way of changing the
marker-text ingame.

I gave up last year with trying to use strd_variables for that (maybe you'v seen those yet - you can replace strings by that), but absolutely nothing
did work.

Marker Text can't be changed later

Like Macca said, there's the work-around by using predefined empty
markers, and with a little bit of planning you could maybe manage
to use this method.

example: in my multi-group-control i did want to have markers representing their group's names, but due to not possible i had
to use: "1st infantry" - "2nd infantry" - "1st armoured" - "2nd armoured" -
etc..

I would just make one comment here.  Not everybody that comes to this site has English as their first language so misunderstandings can occur.

I suggest the next time this happens rather than getting upset the individuals concerned might wish to click on the profile of the other person to see what their language is - and then imagine replying to them in that language.  It works for me.

I admit that in this case that would not have helped. ???

But age would.

Yeah, let's try to keep it civil. :)

soz guys, usually i try to avoid that, but in this case i've seen
the same action from the same person to the same person
two times a day (couldn't resist n-e-more)  :)

And yeah Thobson, you're right - wouldn't have helped in this
case, as i seem to be the only one in this thread not having
english as native language  ;D

let there be V *peace* V  :)

i'll leave it to the original author to solve the thread at his convenience ;)
