i need a lightsource. i've been trying to use streetlights using g.barrons editor addon, but opf keeps crashing when i add them. or rather i add a streetlight, light it using the <switchlight> command, preview, fine, then abort, change something and try to preview again, then it crashes. i've ruled out any other software issues etc. dunno what's up with that.
so, solution could be using a fire, but it has smoke, which i'd rather not have.
any suggestions?

You could use the very nice reallights addon by lester.
The newest version (2.0) is included in the AEF Train Addon (http://www.atwar.net/download.php?view.4401).

At least in the old version of the reallights addon, the lights don't actually illuminate the area around them. Perhaps the new version has some that actually do. However, if you want streetlamps, there is a good addon near the bottom of the page here:

Unfortunately, the streetlamps in Kegety's EU weren't configured to actually shine light, although it is easy to do. And since I wanted my version of his EU to be compatible, I didn't add that in. But the above addon works well, if the reallights addon doesn't have what you need.

hmmm right, well for some reason that addon is crashing flashpoint too. dunno if this is relevant, but the lightsource appears halfway down the lampost. does in the editor update streetlights too.
to be precise, i am creating a streetlight, setting the time to evening, and using
this switchlight "on"
in the init field.
it previews fine, apart from the halfway-up problem, i abort, then hit preview and it crashes.
it's a problem i don't really need solved - although it would be nice to be able to create custom light sources, for a variety of uses - as i've settled for the easier albeit smokier campfire solution.
thanks anyways

For the addon I linked to, you need to use "this inflame true" in their init field, NOT "switchlight".
