Title: Coverting MLOD to ODOL
Post by: Lean Bear on 03 Nov 2004, 20:57:33

Does anyone know if there is a way (no matter how complex and hard) to convert .p3d files from the OFP-easily-read-format to the format that O2 can read and work with?

Yes.........If you have WrpTool then you most likely have ODOL Explorer too.

This tool will save ODOL into MLOD for O2.

but it isn't free of bugs though. i've made the experience that odolexplorer sometimes makes several vertices out of 1 vertex at double-sided faces, etc.
and worst of all: o2 often refuses to merge these 4 or so vertices, which are all at the same position.
so i would say the tool is good rather for examining odol models than for really USING these models.

You must be using the older version then.

I have version 2.44

This version may have one or two little flaws, but on the whole it works very well.

i have version 2.0 which is - according to the authors' homepage (http://flashpoint.nekromantix.com/downloads.php) - the latest version.
try converting a model of a civilian of the res-addon, don't change it, give it a cpp and try it in ofp. it will work, but it won't behave like the original just because of the programme's bugs.  you can try merging the point but as i said above often o2 won't do it.  :P

Yes, I do have ODOL explorer, but I can't "save/ save as" the .p3d as an MLOD.

How do you do that? Could it be that I only have version 1.0?

edit

hmm, yeah. It was deffinately because I only had v1.0

I've since downloaded v2 and (remcen) v2.4 -- you need to download 2.4 from here (http://www.storiamilitare.org/o2/dw.php) and it will update ODOL to the latest version. ;)

umm, anyway to make it bake into ODOL?

I've noticed that those file types are substancialy smaller.

To convert back to ODOL use BIS's Binarize Tool, available from the Breath site.
