Im sure this must have been brought up before, but has anone made or had the inclination to make a Russian KA-60 Kasatka helicopter? I was playing OFP when I relized that the Russians do not have a medium-size, lightly armed transport helo. The MI-17 is too big, and the MI-24 is both too big and way too heavily armed. The closest I could find to a medium transport helicopter is the MI-2 and thats tiny and only holds 5 troops. The Kasatka and carry about 12 people (I think, im not sure) and is more or less equivilent to the Blackhawk in many respects. (Im not 100% sure about how valid the info I have on this helo is... i heard about it from a freind who has been known to make stuff up).

I was thinking the same thing. I was playin Metal Gear solid 2 sons o liberty and I liked those Ka-60s. :) They would look nice with a PK or DSHK (is it DSK?) machine gun out one side of it. ;)
Here's a site with specs....
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/russia/ka-60.htm
And a simple search on a wensearcher came up with all the stuff. Just need an addon maker.... :'(
EDIT:
Another site....

They'd look cool with BAS's fast-roping Script but in Metal Gear Solid 2 they look more like pavehawks!
P.S I think they have a GPMG not a PK or a DShK
-
This is exactly the type of helicopter needed in flashpoint!
(From the article)
"The cabin can accommodate 16 equipped troops. In a medical evacuation role the helicopter can carry three medical crew and six litters or stretcher patients. The cabin is heated and air-conditioned.
A cargo hook allows external loads to be carried. The maximum external payload is 2,750kg"
Maybe the in-game version can use the same script BAS's Blackhawks use to carry Humvees (only with Russian vehicles). Also, maybe it could carry supply crates.
I agree that a fast-rope ability would rock with this helo, also a Rope Ladder ability.
In short, we could finaly have an equivilent to BAS's Blackhawk for the East.

cool, thanks. ;D
All we need now is a transport helo for the resistance...
-
why not an MI-8
-
An Mi-8 would work, but i havn't seen one made for the Resistance (With resistance markings, like the FIA symbol).
-
all would need to be done is reskin it and have it recognized as resistance though am i correct?
note: i never used the word easy

Hey this is a great idea. I live in the gold coast in australia, and those sort of choppers seems to be flying around every day. i belive its called a dauphin? a very similar aircraft. They use it for tours i think. It definatly has a remsebmalnce to the Ka-60 (spelling :-[) Anyway muy point - what sort of weapons does it use? maybe a few AT-6's or something?
:wow:

the Dolphin (American name, it's called somthing else in Europe) is a SAR bird built by Aerospactial/Textron Lycoming and is used in North America by the US Coast Guard, and also by private owners (Such as the tour company you mentioned)... I don't know about the version used in Europ... the KA-60 Kasatka is a Kamov-built Medium transport Helo used by the Russian army... the resemblance is purely superficial. They have nothing else in common.

i may be wrong but that previous pic is a http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/row/fennec.htm
at least it looks like it, ive also been called blind

Ok, that would be the European version, I didn't know it was used for military purposes...
My point still stands that while it resembles the Kasatka, it's a very different Helicopter. The Kasatka is a little bit bigger, with a longer rotor diameter, and has very different abilities... I suppose if you found a Dolphin (or Dauphin, wahtever you prefer to call it) and remodedled it and changed its flight characteristics, then you could make a Kasatka out of it...
*edit*
Oh, and a few of pics of the Kasatka...
