is there a way to make ai clever without using waypoints? like they'll flank left to get behind you etc they'll call reinforcements stuff like that.

This question of improving the AI comes up regularly - search the forums for "enhanced AI" and similar phrases.
However the bottom line is that AI isn't AI at all, it's all programmed. If you are not happy with the way BIS programmed it then its up to you to use the tools provided - waypoints, triggers, scripting, etc. - to make things the way you want.
Calling reinforcements is particularly easy to achieve using scripts and I have seen a couple of reinforcement scripts knocking around the place, though I couldn't tell you where. Remember that the AI can't make a decision to call reinforcements: the decision must be made by you the mission designer.

There are several different scripts right here (http://www.ofpec.com/editors/browse.php?browsewhat=2&category=2_6) at OFPEC that can improve the AI. Check out Bremmers Improved AI Script or KeyCat's Group Link II scripts or even General Barron's AI Information Sharing script. Any one of these scripts will make a tougher opponent for you in game. I am sure that there are other scripts available but these are a few that I use often and really like the results.

I've been working on AI stuff for a while now. Stuff like flanking and sharing enemy info with otherwise clueless comrades. I'll remove my thumb and get it uploaded as soon as poss.

I use the Grouplink and Improved AI scripts in near all my missions they are both excellent scripts, The grouplink script is great in freeranging missions and the AI script is awesome, they take a little working out but if properly used they give you a very clever opponent, took me ages to work out how best to use them and while the Grouplink script take a little less setting up the AI script can really achieve great results.

I wanted to post in this "grouplink thread" but it's locked.

Didn't find a better place to put this so here it goes.
Can someone please attach the latest version of grouplink to this thread?
Including the demo missions and most impotant the documentation.
I still got the scripts but no template or readme .
thanks..

Oh, oh...OH! Zayfod is telling us ECP is right around the corner... ;D :P
I would suggest Bremmers AI script. It works quite good, but it do drain a lot of CPU. Wish he would improve the script to use less CPU.
