Title: MP player support interface
Post by: ScrubMuncher on 29 Jun 2004, 23:17:06
Ok.  We've all been there.  In a MP match (doesn't matter what type, really, just with vehicles),  creeping up on the objective, and find a tank, or a BMP (again, doesn't matter, just severely outgunned).  And you type for support..  You type what's there, where it's at.. what you need. (tank support, airstrike, etc) and as soon as you hit 'Enter', 5 people type something and instantly blitz your mission critical message off-screen.. 'Arrgh', to say the least.
So here's my hope.  That there is a dialog-capable, side specific, method of requesting support and throwing it in a queue (with the requestors tag beside it).  Any player on that side can open up the dialog and accept any mission request.  The accepting players name is posted next to the mission, and that player gets a waypoint to the target (updated if mobile vehicle, and in sight of any player on that side)  Upon completion, the accepting pilot closes out the mission (could be generic button for ease of use.)

This way, a player hits the action item (or radio call) to bring up the interface, picks from a list what type of support is needed- general, armor, air... picks where, or what vehicle/person.  And an alert goes out to the other team members.  Should more than one be able to accept a request? I'd like to see that.

Let me know if I'm barking up the wrong tree...  :P

I think it's a great idea, but I can't help you, I'm bad with dialogs.

Good luck anyway!
