Title: Just wondering about camera angles etc
Post by: Gooner861 on 27 Apr 2004, 15:11:48
What's the best way to use the camera? I know it sounds weird..... like wots the best way to make the cutscene look like a movie, like best angles and all that. Is it good to use alot of landscape type shots or close ups or stationary shots?

Just asking cos ive got a cutscene and it just doesn's have a very good flow to it and i can't seem to find the best angles etc to put the camera cos i can't decide where to put it.

Just wondering wot u guys do to make a nice, flowing cutscene.

Cheers!!!!!!

As you already know how to make cutscenes in general, i suggest you read my "Tips and tricks for cutscenes" which you can find in the pending section of the ED Depot.

But basically, make a few thoughts what the cutscene should tell the player. A good cutscene always tells a story, shows some important spots (watch out, there are enemy reinforcements comin over that hill) or gives the player an overview what he already did (good work, destroying this powerplant).

Or you lead the player from one quest to the next.

But most important...keep the camera moving..no matter if you just turn it or move from one point to another.
