Title: Fireplace burn effect
Post by: Nemesis6 on 18 Mar 2004, 19:49:56
Well, I got a little bored of the bad fireplace effect in ofp... so... One day, the day before yesterday actually... :P, I decided to make a little addition to the normal effect.

Effects -

A small fire

Embers

Steam/smoke when the fire is put out

The whole thing is synchronized.

Try it. Turn it on and off.

INSTRUCTIONS!!!

This exec "FireFire.sqs" <------  The kickstarter, plus, the burn effect for the fire.

IWW = True <------ Turns on wind effects for the whole script.

Tell me what you think, I actually got a temper tantrum when I lost parts of this script cause I didn't back it up, I'M DANGEROUS!!! :P

Seriously though, I put a lot of time into this, please tell me what you think.

Sounds interesting, but I dont' have time to look at it now.

Any chance of putting up a demo though? I'm lazy, and I like it when I can just plop something into my user folder and go :P

Well, the perspective makes the fire appear to be behind the fire, but it isn't. To compensate, I put a smile on my man's face, but you can't really see it :P. Anyway, here it is!

You know, maybe this would be a good idea for ECP. I'm not saying this script, god hates me, so that'd never happen. But something like this.

Yep, thought of that too... but that would require some extra sounds and some additions to the description.ext file, and I'd like this script to be plain and simple.

We have plans to improve the fireplaces, but it will be done via the game's config.cpp, not via scripts (more efficient). I'll keep this script in mind though, in case it can do things we can't do via the config :)

I want to know if you can have a camcreate fire script that i can place on buldings to get a city at war effect without using any third party addons.

I always found it alittle strange how easily and quickly fireplaces where put out,
its not like he's gonna waste his water on it..

So it'd be nice if he did what you are all thinking, yes, peed on the fire,
(Maybe there is an animation that already sortof looks like it, who knows),
with yellow particles falling from the crotch of our beloved player
followed by the 4-5 second pssscchht and smoke.
Oh, and maybe an 'aaah' to finish it.

Someone needs to check the editor depot more thoroughly. There is a script just like that. "When nature calls" by Ace Productions.
