does anyone know why codemasters doesn't include all of the new stuff in VBS1 in a upgrade of operation flashpoint? They are the same game engine.

Because the stuff was developed by Coalescent for the U.S. government. It is not in BIS's power to release anything, if they tried to they'd get in hot water with the U.S. government.

1.  The US govt paid for it so its up to them what happens to it.

2.  It is essentially the same game engine but I understand it has been developed and changed:  it's not just new addons.

3.  Can you think of a reason why the US govt would not be keen for a training simulator for its soldiers should not be available to the general public, in the way that, say, highly accurate airliner flight sims are?   Hmmm, I wonder ....  ::)
