Title: Overview pics with dropshadows?
Post by: xenofanes on 09 Feb 2004, 08:53:46
OK, now I've searched these forums and I think it's safe to say there's not a single thread about how to make those dropshadow pictures in overviews (like in the official campaigns or FDF-mod).
I know you're supposed to use alpha channels but I can't seem to get it to work. ???
I use Adobe Photoshop and TexVeiw.
If there is someone who knows, please tell me and all the other editors  :-[

Is it something to do with saving it as a .paa file or am I way off the mark again.  :-\

Crab a unpbo tool somewheres and check one of the BIS SP missions...
There's something like pic.paa, open it with TexView and 'convert' the img to *.tga by saving the opened pic.paa as pic.tga... Then open it in yer Photoshop and u will see how BIS has done it..

Then u can just copy/paste your own image on top of the BIS image, do the necessary scale and flatten thingys and save as *.tga.....

Then open that .tga in the TexView, hit generate from the mipmap menu and save the .tga now as .paa...

Should work... No guarantees, I have a bad flu...  ;D

That sound real simple, why didn't I think of that  :o
I'll have to try it when I get home to my beloved computer...
