hi im new to this sort of thing was just wondering what to tutorials to look at and if you could gimme some links that would be extremely useful

There's a link to the Editors Depot in my signature line below.   Head for the the "Getting Started" section in the tutorials.     Start with snYpir's OFPEC Guide: Making Missions and macguba's guide to mission editing for beginners.   Both include suggestions for the tutorials you should read next.
