Title: Geometry For Fiddly Models
Post by: tybriel on 29 Nov 2003, 22:32:12
I'm trying to make an Atlantic Wall Nazi radar, and as you can imagine it has lots of girders and things sticking out all over the place.

I can make the model well enough, but when I try to make a geometry LOD it never works (ie: i can still walk through the model). I've heard that the geometry LOD doesn't work if it sticks out of the visible LODs.

This can't be true, can it? Not with all those really fiddly, thin resistance models.

Thanks,
Tybriel

No, it isn't true. But Geo LODs can be very fiddly indeed, and they don't work over a certain size (around 60x60x60m).

If I remember rightly the GeoLOD components can't be under 0.5m in size, that could be your problem.
When you are making the GeoLOD try making all the girder sections that you won't be able to walk through in an area one component in the GeoLOD.
